I keep a spreadsheet of every movie I've ever seen. I've not always kept it since spreadsheets didn't exist at some point in the past. But a few years ago I worked my way through Wikipedia, year by year and looked at the films released each year. It took a while, but I believe my list is about 99% correct. I list the movie and the year of release. I bold the few that I own on physical media. (I don't much buy movies or TV on DVD anyway.)

A couple of months ago I hit 2001 movies. I know folks have seen way more than that, but it feels like a milestone.

I have a friend from childhood who worked at a movie theater for years, then transitioned to being a film P.R. person for a major P.R. firm. Decades at the same job. Her list has to be four times the number of mine. She just about sees every movie that comes out. Partly because she loves movies, and partly because it's her job.

A few years ago, she even sent me an original movie poster of Arthur, one of my favorite 80s movies.

I think I create lists like this because I'm an archivist at heart. My spreadsheet game is strong, y'all.

So, I doubt anyone keeps a list of their movie viewing, but do you honestly have a good idea of how many movies you've seen? And do you ever refer to it?

Not at all, although interesting idea. I don't think I'd ever go back through 2001 movies and figure who what's best and what's not. Like I said, it's the title and year it was released. That's it. Just to keep track.

Your friend's list would be bonkers.

My impression of The Batman was that it felt like a crime drama where Batman was just sorta an afterthought. Not in a bad way. It felt suspenseful and I wanted to know more as these things started to show themselves. Bruce Wayne in it was sort of a bonus.

It didn't necessarily feel as long as the time indicated. It never lulled very much, not enough for me to lose interest or feel bored.

I can't think of the last great horror movie I saw, besides Midsomner and Hereditary.

I love everything Ti West has done, and I'm looking forward to seeing this. As soon as the price drops on the blu-ray, I'm grabbing it.

I'm 52 and have been watching movies my entire life; from seeing movies like Star Wars: A New Hope and Superman The Movie in theaters as a kid, to watching movies like Carrie and Halloween on HBO when I was way too young for them. Back then, HBO wouldn't show an R rated film until after 9pm.

Flash forward to today, and I've seen an absolute shit TON of movies.

Now I have a film collection easily over 2K, so there would just be no way for me to document what I've seen in my lifetime. It would take a lifetime, or at least more time than I would ever give to it.

I'm quite sure that I've never watched any more than about 50 films in my entire life. It's possibly slightly more than that when I really think about it, but not many. Just never been a fan of the medium. Wasn't that interested as a kid, then when I hit my teens it was all music, music, music.
The last film I watched was actually at the cinema. I went with a friend who was desperate to watch the latest Terminator. I thought it was awful. I did like the first two though.
