Meanwhile, Depp had time to decamp to UK to play at a couple of Jeff Beck gigs. No problem was reported with noise levels, even though Heard couldn't be Heard.

I sorta think the jury isn't going to be out long on this. The evidence feels very weighted in Depp's favor. I'm no Depp stan (I do enjoy his movies, but I haven't ever seen any of the Pirates movies). I'd be very surprised if he wasn't victorious on this, even if he didnt get the $50M decision.

Of course I'd be more surprised if he got more. If any of that happens, we may finally see Amber Heard do her best acting job yet.

THE TEARS, MY GOD THE TEARS! Like a mighty river, they are going to flow.

VERDICT!

Jury rules in Depp's favor. Found Heard had malice and was purposely defamatory toward Depp regarding the Op-Ed in the Washington Post. Depp has proven all elements of defamation.

They picked apart the op-ed and are showing particular statements are false, malicious and defamatory. Depp hasp proven his case.

Awards $10M for compensatory damages.

Awards $5M for punitive damages.

Jury is against Heard, saying she did not prove her case in full.

Heard was awarded $2M in compensatory, and nothing in punitive. They jury found that Depp's lawyer saying Heard's statement that the abuse allegations were "a hoax" were seen as defaming to Heard. That was her $2M. So it was more about what his lawyer said. But, whatever, he'll end up with $13M.

Depp's statement:

Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed.

All in the blink of an eye.

False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career.

And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.

My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was only made after considerable thought.

From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.

I am, and have been, overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and the colossal support and kindness from around the world. I hope that my quest to have the truth be told will have helped others, men or women, who have found themselves in my situation, and that those supporting them never give up. I also hope that the position will now return to innocent until proven guilty, both within the courts and in the media.

I wish to acknowledge the noble work of the Judge, the jurors, the court staff and the Sheriffs who have sacrificed their own time to get to this point, and to my diligent and unwavering legal team who did an extraordinary job in helping me to share the truth.

The best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun.

Veritas numquam perit.
Truth never perishes.

I've always been a Johnny Depp fan, but going into this I did try to keep a very open mind.

I watched pretty much the entire trial as it was unfolding. I didn't get the 5pm news soundbites, I saw almost everything in real time (I work from home, and had it on the TV in my office).

Depp's case was almost rock-solid. Heard's case was not that well put together, and time after time she came across as being untruthful. Credit to Depp's team for such a great presentation and cross-examinations.

My personal belief is that she wanted a very hefty payday for the divorce but that didn't work out. Had she gotten half of his earnings while they were married, I highly doubt she would have even bothered with an Op-Ed.

Yeah, it is, and it's highly unlikely any judge is going to honor an appeal. It's just edging the payout.

Her lawyer was on CBS Mornings today, parroting the same thing they've been saying in the trial. Also, she said evidence was supressed from the UK trial. Well, UK trails are different, and this is different. So it's apples and onions, IMO.

That lawyer cracked me up, by the way. Once w/ the TMZ employee, and once with someone else, she leans on the podium, leans in and shakes her head, "IIIIIsn't it true....." Girl, turn off Law & Order and do your job. It was pure comedy. lol lol

Se7en's theory could be in the back of Heard's mind, that he wanted more money or whatever and this was the way about it. Sure was a big fucking detour to get there, though.

We'll see. I had assumed the biggest difference between the UK trial and this one was Johnny was suing a corporation in the UK. But reading various sources now, it seems they are saying it was because the legal professionals didn't fall for the same antics and tactics a jury would.

At this point I wouldn't know since I've only given this my true attention just these last 3 weeks. I heard the normal blurbs here and there but not enough to get an understanding of what was actually happening. Still it seems to me within that short timespam, that this is a bigger battle if the ACLU is involved as much as I'm reading.

They have the funds and if this is truly fueled by more than what went on between these two people, I can see some other court taking this up if the wording is just right. It's the statements of Depp's team surpressing evidence that's standing out to me. But then again the sums that the jury actually awarded may be a deterrent since this went from the big headlines of $150million to only being in total $12.4million. I think it's just corporations and money driving this bus.

I don't think Johnny Depp will pursue this any further. He will not go after the ACLU. They actually asked him during this trial, why didn't he sue the Washington Post, since they're the ones who published it (which is usually the case). I think the lawsuit in the UK soured him on going after the publication.

Honestly, as someone said above, I don't see this going all the way to appeal. I think it's just legal maneuvering to get that $10.35 Million that she owes lessened/erased and maybe get some additional money for herself in compensatory.

Her words did cost him Pirates 6 (regardless of what he did/did not do), but I've read that WB still paid him for the Fantastic Beasts movie even though he was asked to resign.

Side note: I also read an article this morning that her legal team was paid for from her homeowner's insurance. Strangest thing, but true. Never heard of that being a "thing" before. The insurance does not necessarily pay out the settlement though.

I didn't think JD would go after the ACLU. I think for him this was all about his reputation and his career which is fair. That's his most valuable asset.

The rumor is that the ACLU is picking up Amber's legal team tab of $6mil since she pledged a portion of her divorce settlement to them and they were the legal team involved in her op-ed to make her the face of domestic violence. I've seen a couple of articles already targeting certain groups of women on how this case was a serious loss for them. Like, huh? I'm only realized today Elaine did several interviews yesterday as opposed to the one I saw. The infamous "they" are making their rounds. So there's something bigger fueling this. I doubt it's over. I'm staying tuned to see how it all turns out because law isn't ever that cut and dry. There are always loopholes. It just depends on who has the better arguments...or power.

We know Amber doesn't have that kind of money. We got the breakdown on how much she actually gets paid. Her divorce settlement was her largest windfall. I was shocked at how little she got from AM1 until they broke it down. She simply doesn't have the resume to get more per movie. And with them reducing her role on AM2 she wasn't going to get much more on that franchise anyway.

Interesting that FB paid him even when he's not the face of the franchise while WB basically gave him a triple punch on a franchise that is centered around him. Like damn.

I would think that an insurance company paying out a settlement in this situation is purely based on what sort of persona liability insurance she has in her name. She may be borrowing against a premium or something to pay for the legal team. I don't know. But actors and people like this get insurance for litigous situations such as this.

I believe in the trail it was stated she got $2M for Aquaman both times, so that's not a high amount of money per se. With a bigger rent or mortgage plus living expenses, she could blow through that in a few short years. (Clearly she's not spending a lot on hair or clothing in general, as exhibited during the trial.)

And she's not doing a lot of movies or TV. Snyder's Justice Leage and the upcoming Aquaman are the two latest films she's been paid for. If $2M is her salary, she's probably pulling down about 1.75 after taxes. Not beans or rocks. It's liveable. But Gully bombed. London Fields didn't even make $500K at the box office. Her Smell made half that, at best.

She's not a box office draw, so how she's going to continue, I don't know. Probably go that Nic Cage route and take whatever to pay the bills. She can't really write a book because - hello - we just exposed all that. She could have a docuseries, but those aren't big money makers for thep eople in them. They could throw her $750K maybe with some backend maybe. But is that going to pay off ther $13M debt to Johnny Depp? Hell no.

For an octopus...on one hamd you got it being written the insurance company is paying her legal fees, on another her lawyer is saying she hasn't been able to fulfill her pledges due to mounting legal fees. On another JD and Elon have had to cover a portion of her pledges, while on another JD is being petitioned by the ACLU for legal fees. I mean there's a lot to unpack.

While testifying on the stand, Amber Heard revealed that she was paid $1 million for the first installment of Aquaman, released in 2018, along with the box office bonus. She also claimed that her contract stated that she would be paid $2 million for the second film
.

I'm reading she may be up for AM3 at $4mill. I didn't hear this part of the testimony.

Marks revealed that should Warner Bros. choose to engage Amber Heard for an Aquaman 3 return via her talent option contract, she would receive $4 million. This is double her $2 million pay for the second movie in the series, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will be released next year.

The UK judge who sided with Heard supposedly is good friends with Rupert Murdock's son. The Murdock's own The Sun which was the basis of that case. The judge reportedly retired afterwards. Sounds all kinds of fishy.
