Anyone watching Pam & Tommy?

I am. And I think they're done a damn good job. Lily is killing it. Sebastian too. The "little" puppet show in epi2 took me out, I understand it's in Tommy's book so I guess that was fair game, but it’s unexpected and hilarious. The show so far comes off empathetic towards Pam, I'm a little perturbed again how she became collateral damage to these fools.

I had noticed the series when I was visiting Disney to watch Boba Fett and wondered if it was any good and wondered if it is a dramatized film version or just a documentary? I take it is the former from your words. Will probably start watching it soon!

It's a limited series they've only released 3 episodes so far. It's getting some pretty good reviews. It's surrounding the incidents regarding the theft and release of that tape.

I was going to, but then I thought - why? Why are we watching movies based on things we already know? I mean, that story in particular is pretty well documented front to back. And to see Stan or whoever dress up as Tommy and Pam, well - ok?

In contrast, something like The Crown isn't as well known publicly (ie: the people behind it), despite it being an arguably more well-known person/people. That is interesting, a different view.

But to see 4-hours of Pam and Tommy getting a sex tape stolen and trying to rebound from that. I don't know. At first, I was really interested in it. Then I read a review where someone said they watched the first part and felt it was more than enough. When I went to look at it and saw a part of it, I sorta had the same feeling.

So, for now, I think I'm going to skip it. I still have The Righteous Gemstones to keep up with, plus Star Trek Discovery and Picard are comng back sooner than later. I still have a couple of Netflix series I need to circle back around to, as well.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I love the Righteous Gemstones, it an nice take on a charismatic King Lear, John Goodman is so good in that role. And he's far more loveable as a domineering father than Logan Roy. I even sit still and silent when he prays, even though it's mocking I feel a reverance in it nonetheless.

I can say I don't know that much about all that involved that tape beyond the basics. I never saw it, didn't care to. Besides there's a whole new generation that was too young to care during it all. I do like Sebastián, he's winning me over with each of his projects. He goes for it. So I was willing to give it a hot minute. And after the 1st episode I was hooked.

I agree about subsequent generations. It's better for them probably.

Stan is awesome, and he certain visually evokes Lee's aesthetic.

The Righteous Gemstones is pretty crazy.

I forgot to add Wiki says it's an 8 episode mini series, don't know what the difference is between a mini series and a limited series they look the same on paper to me but that's what it says.

To me, limited and mini-series are the same thing. It's just for that spread of time and that's it.

I agree. I don't think every scandal is worth making a movie over it. If that's the case who is interested in watching the 48 hour limited series Zsa Zsa Gabor hitting a Beverly Hills cop?

Is she not a human being? She has breast implants and she's fake? I'm not defending her, but hey - you love who you love.

I'm sure Mayte is super nice as Prince once said of her. But there was that time on Hollywood Exes when she literally aired his dirty laundry on 'Hollywood Exes'. I can imagine Prince wasn't cool about that and probably found it embarrassing. Because it was below the belt. Or above, in Mayte's case, because all of his clothes she brought onto the show were upper garments. razz

And regarding Pam & Tommy, was any of their consent or input involved in the programme? Because if not, then the whole concept is quite intrusive in my opinion.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

I must have missed it but wouldn't be surprised by it. Looks like Tommy was going thru it with the shift in music taste of that time. It's funny to see so much newspaper use happening, To think in a short time later it becomes obsolete. Anyway, Seth and team are making this series work. Not like there aren't a mountain worth of unauthorized projects people gobble up all over the place. This did create a cultural shift, it's stamped in history. And they're using not only their RS interview but Tommy's book so big deal the info is already public not random gossip or opinions.
