She was once asked, "What would you want to hear when you get to the pearly gates in heaven?"

She said, "Hello, Betty. Here's Allen."

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

What is my opinion?? That someone always brings that crap into it or that I find it funny? The first is fact, the latter obviously my opinion.

That's what Betty believed in though
She believed in the Lord and she believed she would see her husband in heaven
It is not "fairy tale bullshit"

Well, do we know that? I think she was just answering the question based on the cards on the table from the interviewer: IF there's a heaven...

She seemed to keep any religious views she had very, very close to the vest. That wasn't her wheelhouse in public. She purposely never talked about that, and not really politics either, per se.

When she talked to Joy Behar on Behar's HLN show, she asked if she believed in life after death. She said, "I'd like to think so. It'd be interesting, providing I earned the privilege of choosing what I do, yes."

She relayed the story she's told for decades. Her mother used to tell her, "My mother had the most wonderful approach to death. She said, 'well, we know so many things, almost everything in the world. But we don't know what happens at that moment. A lot of people think they do, but they don't.' And whenever we'd lost somebody, she'd say, 'now they know the secret.'"

Betty said she wasn't afraid of dying. She was looking forward to learning the secret. If there was just nothing, then she wouldn't know the difference anyway. But if there was something on the other side, then that's what she wanted. Just to finally know that secret.

Whether folks here want to balk at the idea of God, or nothing at all, none of us know for sure. And if there's nothing, then those who believe in God haven't lost anything. If there is something, then those who denied God are certainly due for an awakening on the other side. But we won't know until we die.

That there is, is only opinion either. It's no fact. And I didn’t bring an opinion as fact into this.

Yep. It’s a about Betty. So let’s just refrain from that religious crap.

Back to the thread:

There's a Betty White challenge going around. The challenge is this: On what would have been her 100th birthday, January 17, folks are asked to find a local no-kill rescue shelter and donate just $5 in her name. If everyone did that, it'd be a huge influx of much-needed funds to these shelters, which are often run independent of any government program or other financial means than contributions by the public.

So January 17, $5, local shelter or adoption organization in her area.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Desmond wasn't on The Golden Girls.

Besides, it's the Org, not a Pew Research Poll. One's an activist and religious leader, the other is Desmond Tutu. HA! I Kid, I kid. Apples and oranges, man.
