Looking to buy a stereo Been researching all the brands including Sony,Phillips,ONN,etc and came down to 2 choices
The LG
Is a cheaper choice and has a lot of bass and even a subwoofer. But read reviews saying the sound can get muddy at certain volumes
https://www.amazon.com/LG...REO_SYSTEM
The Sharp
No subwoofer, just the right amount of bass,5 disc changer, and sounds good judging by the reviews I read
https://www.amazon.com/Sh...7O7K&psc=1
What I want to know is have any of you tried any of these 2 stereos? Or have a different one to recommend? I am looking for something $250 or lower
The person I am buying for plans to mostly listen to music using the headphones to the stereo and doesn't need a loud stereo
Also do "watts" matter? I figure the more watts the louder the stereo is?
The LG is 700 and the sharp is just 50 watts

Another option is to find a used stereo made in Japan when they were built to last and had high quality control. Find one that has been fully serviced or refurbished. I have two hooked up to two 40 year old Technics turntables (also made in Japan): an ERC and an RCA. I paid less than $100 for each one not including shipping fees on Ebay. And yeah watts matter, especially when selecting the right speakers that are compatible with your stereo. For more information go to an audio buff forum to do research. I'm looking to get me some new speakers for Christmas.
I've been researching. So many options. Don't know if there are any
recommendations. I've been hearing good things about Klipsch, Jamo,
Wharfedale(although somewhat on the higher end), and Elac. Don't laugh at my funk

You're looking for the all in one portable type I assume based on your amazon links.
I've never been into the all in one type gadgets especially tv/dvd combos. Unless you're
looking for portability why not consider just buying a standalone cd player. I have a Sony cd/dvd model. I use it strictly for music. I have it hooked up to my receiver and it's excellent. Sound and
detail is great. Don't laugh at my funk

Got two sets of KLH speakers, both used, and very pleased with them. One set came with the RCA stereo I bought on Ebay to hook up my Technics turntable--listening to James Brown on it right now. For bookshelf speakers they sound wonderful. The second pair of KLH I saw at the Goodwill for $10 and grabbed them; they make my DYI rehabbed second Technics turntable sound wonderful. But it would be great to find one that plays vinyl records as well being that I have a good amount of prince records just sitting on my shelf never getting played. |

Same here. All I ever had when I was growing up was tabletop stereos and the first thing to die on them was the cassette player/recorder. So you've got this stereo with strictly a record player and a radio containing a dead cassette player. Then the record player dies and all you've got is a radio. When I got grown and making my own money, I made sure to buy strictly component systems. When one component dies, you simply replace it with another. Plus the sound is much louder and powerful than the tabletop stereos. I just can't see something small and compact being capable of disturbing the neighbors so much to the point that they would call the police. When it comes to my music..... size matters. Andy is a four letter word. |
