Another great writer gone. I haven't read all her work, but one of my favourite novels is The Witching Hour. Excellent story and the setting was very dark and gothic. I read it many years ago, but I remember I could barely put it down and stayed up late into the night finishing it. I might go back and give it another read. RIP Anne.

I've always thought that her work should be taught in schools. Her detailed descriptions and the humanity she brought to her writing was second to none.

Rest in Peace

I read the first of her two Christ The Child books. I didn't know there was a second. I should read it, too.

I confess, I never read any of the Lestat books. Seemed too much at the time, but maybe I'll slowly go through them.

I remember a story that one of my college Lit professors (and head of the English Department) told our James Joyce class out of the blue one day many years ago... He had Anne Rice as a student in one of his classes and called her in to discuss one of her lit papers he evidently didn't think was up to par... At one point during the discussion, Anne Rice looked up at him and said, "I'm gonna write my way out of this place!" lol Professor Arkin apparently didn't think much of that statement but she proved him wrong! He then admitted what I consider jealous snobbery and literary elitism on his part--that he had never read one of her novels! eek razz I took her words to heart--"I'm gonna write my way out of this place!"--and did exactly that. Thank you, Anne Rice for the stories and the inspiration. cool
