I always wonder why in the credits who ever plays Michael Myers is listed as playing "the Shape". Nobody in the movie has ever called Michael Myers the Shape. They either call him Michael Myers or the Boogie Man
Laurie strode refers to him as being the shape in the 2018 Halloween film It's the scene when Laurie shows up late for when the family goes out to eat and she drinks a lot of wine I always thought that Michael myers becomes the shape when he pits the mask on
Ok yup you are right, missed that. Though it feels forced though. It's like I would be asking her "what are you talking about". Took them 40 years to mention it in a movie. Well. It is forced. Like everything in this fucking movie. Just like calling the crazy doc "the new Loomis". It's a meta thing that works off movie, but not when someone utters it in the movie. |

Hell, at thid point with them taking away all his history and mystery, geez, he's been locked up all his life, even calling him the boogie man feels forced. He's just a guy in a mask, killing it for 2 nights. On that note, here's a great review https://thefilmstage.com/...-audience/ |

EXACTLY. When they decided to only follow where part 1 ended was a big mistake. There is no history or lore to Michael Myers/Boogie Man anymore. At this point all you have is a little boy who killed his sister, tragic but happens. Then 15 years later he escapes kills 4 people and a dog. Very tragic but he gets caputered later that night and nothing happens for 40 years. It really doesn't explain why Laurie Stroude acts like Sarah Connor. Yes sure when you were 17 years old something very tragic happened but hey the guy was caputered and has been locked up for 40 years. He's in his late 60's or early 70's. If he escape why would you think he would come after you? Not making him your sister means now that you were just a nobody who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He's an old man why would you be scared of him? The sister thing is important because it gives them a connection. They tried to say in Halloween Kills is that the connection is that Michael wants to return home but they contradict themselves by having Michael Myers attacking Laurie in her home way out in the boonies. I understand most of the sequels don't want to deal with parts 4 through Halloween Resurrection. The best approach is to acknowledge Michael Myers is her brother and that Laurie has encountered Michael Myers several times over the years. That would explain why Laurie is this gungho survivalist 40 years later.

It wasn't anything much that I remembered. But it did have a weird flashback to druidic rituals at the beginning, implying an origin of the supernatural aspect of Micheal Myers.
But I am remembering something I flipped though in 1979 or 1980.
You still have the book??? Apparently it's worth a lot of money even in a crappy condition.
No, I simply was reading sections of it in the store as a kid. I didn't buy it. |

See, I thought the opposite ... take the scene when Myes goes all action hero and takes out the firefighters early on. The firefighters all form a nicely orderly queue and go at him one at a time because, you know, movie logic ... can't have the firefighters going at him as a group as they would in real life, taking him down.
Myers then stabs one of them with some pole implement, and lifts them up off the ground right in to the air ... a 200lb firefighter ... balancing right on the end of a metal pole. And Michael is 65 years old.
Yeah, that's not my idea of realistic.
Michael is supernatural now. At least that's what it looks like from the end mobs scene. John Carpenter himself has described the character in past interviews as "almost a supernatural forceāa force of nature. An evil force that's loose," a force that is "unkillable. I know people want him to be just a man but even in the original film he's stabbed and shot 6 times and gets up and walks away. The more sequels that get made he'd have to be more than human. If it was just one movie you could say he walks away at the end but then dies from all his wounds.
Well, I guess that could explain his new fighting "super powers", though I prefer my supernatural stuff a little less on the nose, personal taste though I guess.
Still doesn't explain the nice orderly way the firefighters approach Michael to take him on. You can't push for realism in your film then chuck in a dumb action movie trope just because you've written yourself in to a plot corner.

Yeah. That's it. Thinking people get that. More simple minded people don't and they think it's all great and makes sense. I can't overlook things like that. To be fair though, Michael only was attacking Laurie because the Doctor pretty much brought him to her doorstep and now apparently he kills everything on sight. Pretty early in the movie they should though that he absolutely has no interest in Laurie anymore, as he was leaving through the back door after he saw her.

LOL at "produced". She got a title to get more money. She also was behind H20 or so she said. And back then she claimed it was the greatest. No she claims this one is the greatest. In 20 years her next retcon and comeback from the retirement home will be the greatest. Really, I see through her. Whatever it takes to get a paycheck. |

Definitely this. I love JLC as an actress, but off screen she's backtracked on so many things she's said about the films she's been in just to get her pay cheque in to the bank, I don't believe a word she says about any films she does these days.
When she started banging on about 2018 being the best film in the series I just laughed ... as you said, she had similar high praise for H20 and Resurrection when they came out, and then trashed them later on when it suited her. She completely undermines herself and has no idea she's doing it.

I think i liked it more than H2018. The best part of HK was the flashbacks, I wasn't expecting them so was really excited when the flashback started. The mob scene was ridiculous, totally unnecessary, a lot of the messages in the film are too heavy handed. Bringing back Tommy, Lyndsey and Marion was pretty potinless. The gore and violence towards the end was too much for me. The 1978 film is my all-time favourite because it's creepy and atmospheric rather than violent and graphic. 2.5/5 3121... I saw that episode and there is a producer on there, Irwin Yablans who sounds so smug and arrogant about his part in the making of the first Halloween. He seems to be taking more and more credit for things. I've seen him before on extras for the blurays and he is the same way only this time he's adding more to his story. He was also the guy John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Moustapha Akkad had to sue back in the day because he was with holding profits from the film. He claims it was a clerical error or something. |

I've seen just about every doc that's been made on Halloweem and Yablans has definitely bigged up his role in in the success of the film as the years have gone by. He's just a toad. JC is probably past caring at this point, which is probably why he wasn't in the Netflix doc.
