Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists or specters, whatever you call them there's no doubt tales of the afterlife are rife among the living.

Proof of possession or hauntings are rare, and evidence is rejected or contested at best. But one woman claims to have captured a "ghost" on film, in what people are calling the most convincing footage t... ever seen.

TikToker Shannyfantg seems to be having trouble with an otherworldly presence in her house, sharing a series of videos of strange goings-on.

Shannyfantg, from Phoenix, posted a trio clips to the site on Sunday, showing things falling off counters and a gate opening. But it's a video involving her two dogs which has sent shivers down people's spines.

The footage, which appears to have been captured with a surveillance camera, shows her living room, with her two dogs, one of which is a Belgian Malinois, in their crates.

Both mutts are ferociously barking, although no one else appears to be with them. But they both fall silent at exactly the same time and stay perfectly still.

Out of nowhere, the black dog seems to jump backwards as it appears to be pushed into the corner, with the collar mysteriously comin... its neck.

While quiet precedes the sudden reaction from the dog, numerous people pointed out in the comments something can be heard around the 40-second mark, which they likened to a whisper or a mumble.

The dog owner captioned the clip: "Sorry for the obnoxious barking at the beginning. watch my black dog. Ghost takes her collar off in her crate."

In the comment section, Shannyfantg revealed it wasn't the first time something like this had happened, adding: "This happened about a year after moving into this house, nothing happened for almost two years, now things are happening again."

The video has been seen more than 8.5 million times, and can be viewed here, as people claimed they were creeped out by the footage.

"I've never seen such a convincing ghost video," L_Brooks_Jr wrote.

Lydia Joi pointed out: "If you listen carefully at the 0:40 mark you hear someone say something just as the dog flies backwards. I can't quite make it out though."

Lauren Jimenez690 thought: "They both got super quiet... they felt the energy."

Agreeing, Kel commented: "The silence was unsettling."
