Well this will be the third time Fantasy Island will be on TV. I'm ok with the casting with Roselyn Sanchez in the lead. She plays Elena Roarke, I'm guessing Mr. Roake's daughter or niece, yeah I can see that. I recently watched season 1 of the original series and it was a lot darker than most people think it was. Yeah sure Tatoo was there for comic relief but Mr. Roarke was basicaly "the genie" and granted people their wishes, and you know what they say.......be careful for what you ask for.

And the 1998 version with Malcolm McDowell in the role, which I also thought was a good choice.

It started out feeling like a comical LifeTime movie / 1980s twilight zone episode

Something told me they were going to do this, but I'm not understanding why the need to introduce the assistant host as a bisexual woman who chose her husband and now is getting a second chance etc etc she is beautiful though.

played an evil character in The Man With the Golden Gun, Tatoo even when being humorous always felt sinister on Fantasy Island

Yup it was darker than most people think. Mr. Roarke basicaly "fucked" many of the guest. One guest wanted to be the greatest eascape artists ever so Mr. Roake sent him to a prison. The guest had a hard time escaping from prison so he askd Mr. Roake to end his fantasy, Mr. Roake said "sorry I can't help you". Another guest wanted to be the greatest lawyer ever so Mr. Roake had the guest framed for murder and had to defend himself. Once again the guest asked to end his fantasy and Mr. Roake said "sorry I can't help you".

Ok just watched the first episode. It was ok, could of have had more interesting Fantasies. Roselyn Sanchez was believable in the role as the niece. Not sure about the new "Tatoo" on the show.

But not that interesting to watch. This new Fantasy Island will need to have better stories if not this show will be canceled after 13 episodes.

There was a really awful movie released last year called Fantasy Island. Is that related to this show? And if so, why would they make another movie after that absolute disaster last year?

Are you talking about this movie? It was alright, now Halloween 5 was an awful movie. I think it has potential. Sometimes a sequel is better than the first movie such as Star Trek the motion picture and Star Trek Wrath of Khan.

I'm giving it a chance. I wish they had the reruns on TV but it isn't on, well at least where I live.

Well she is believeable in the role as the niece of Mr. Roarke. Seems as though the caretakers of fanatasy Island are the Roarkes and in the first episode she mentions that the postion was basicaly thrust upon her. I'm sure as the show goes along we will learn more of her past and see a darker side to the island as well as an the supernatural factor of the island. One thing I hope is that they don't focus on a romantic releationship with Elena Roarke and the pilot. I'm not sure if about the Ruby character as "Tatoo", also I don't care for the music they play.

Well episode 1. A guest wants to eat. Episode 2. A guest wants to sleep. Really??? I'm guessing Episode 3 a guest fantasy is to sit.

For some reason I'm thinking a romantic relationship with Elena and her new host. Like maybe Elena is the young woman the guest/new host gave up to marry her husband
