Remakes of movies that are better than the original? I know there are not a lot of remakes that are better than the original. For instance,I don't know anybody who thinks the remakes of "Psycho" and "Halloween" surpass the original films. But there are rare occasions when they do At the moment the only remakes I can think of that I enjoy a lot better than the originals are the 2014 version of "Flowers in the attic".It was a lifetime movie but I really enjoyed it The other is "My bloody valentine" from 2008 I think.Going to see the movie,I had never seen or even heard of the original. But I enjoyed the hell out of the remake.I did catch the original on tv a few years ago and it very bland and boring to me. Let's see which remakes you all prefer

I prefer the remake The Omega Man over the original The Last Man on Earth. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Without thinking too much about it, Heat, The Fly and Oceans Eleven are the obvious ones that come to mind. Of course, it depends on how you define a "remake". Is Brian DePalma's Scarface a remake of the Howard Hawks Scarface? If so, then the remake is better.

I completely forgot about that. That´s a very good example, and I prefer the version with Al Pacino even though I really like the original, too. Even though they are very different, I´d definitely count De Palma´s version as a remake. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Now I've had more time to think about it, I've thought of a few more remakes that were better than the original. The Thing The Man Who Knew Too Much (Hitchcock remaking his own movie, kind of) The Maltese Falcon The Little Shop of Horrors True Grit I'm sure there are many others but I'm tired and can't be bothered thinking of more. I think True Lies was a remake of a foreign movie too but I can't remember what the original movie was called. I never seen it but I still bet that True Lies is better.

The Thing, True Lies and The Birdcage immediately come to mind. Especially Eddie Murphy's version of Nutty Professor for mine, I think it was funnier and played the major narrative beats better. I had good memories of the theater experience especially, I just remember everyone being in hysterics at scenes of Chappelle going in with the fat jokes at the comedy club and the dinner farting. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world.

Heat (1995) is 100 times better than L.A. Takedown. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

"Here Comes Mr. Jordan" is better in every way. [Edited 7/22/21 8:20am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Bishop's Wife vs The Preacher's Wife, or Guess Who's Coming To Dinner vs Guess Who (although, that one is no contest; GWCTD is superior). Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The new Star Trek series are darker in themes-where the original shows and movies had hope and with happier outcome endings (most of the time). The popular shows for Star Trek are The original, The Next Generation, and Voyager. I personally like the Voyager series best (season 4 through season 7) the first 3 seasons are okay. And overall Voyager is less cheesy than the original 2 tv series. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

7 of Nines is the reason the show became a hit and the best character on the show. (Love the doctor too). 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

That is true but I love the show even before Jeri Ryan joined the cast. Love the theme of the show, Voyager being stuck in galaxy far far away (ooops wrong franchise). Was so happy when I heard that Robert Picardo (The Doctor) was going to be a cast member because I loved him as the P.E teacher on the Wonder Years. [Edited 7/22/21 14:57pm]
