I completely forgot about that. That´s a very good example, and I prefer the version with Al Pacino even though I really like the original, too. Even though they are very different, I´d definitely count De Palma´s version as a remake.

I'm glad you brought this up. While the Heston one was better overall, none of them stick to the book. The Heston one is outrageously different, and I think Richard Mathison had his name removed from the movie.

The Vincent Price one I've never been able to sit through.

The Will Smith one was okay for a while, but the feral CGI vampires were a bust for me.

I've read the short story. It's incredibly enthralling. The idea of "I am legend," is specific in the book. He's not the last man on earth, he's the last human being, because society has turned into what equates to vampires. They're going to kill him, out of fear of the unknown, in the town square. But a sympathetic nurse gives him a pill or something so he can off himself first. His last words are "I am legend." He knows that despite all of humanity ending, he'll at least be remembered for being the last one.

None of the movies have stuck to the book and really played out that story. It's all about a guy being alone - which it is in many respects - and then facing a larger obstacle with what is basically a new race of humanoid creatures.

Maybe one day someone will do that movie right.

And one of the more interesitng things in the film is a movie marquee showing a Batman vs. Superman film, which was supposed to be made but wasn't, or something. But eventually, it did.

The reboot of Star Trek was better than the motion picture. Fite me.

Those 4 new Monsterverse movies were fantastic.

The Thing, True Lies and The Birdcage immediately come to mind. Especially Eddie Murphy's version of Nutty Professor for mine, I think it was funnier and played the major narrative beats better. I had good memories of the theater experience especially, I just remember everyone being in hysterics at scenes of Chappelle going in with the fat jokes at the comedy club and the dinner farting.

Heat (1995) is 100 times better than L.A. Takedown.

I don't know why canon worshippers are so bent out of shape about Discovery. Hands down, it's the best Star Trek series since ST:TNG.

Live action Mulan was better.

Mary Poppins, while not a full remake, held its own.

I think The Next Generation was a great series. Deep Space Nine was way better than what I initially gave it credit for. So was Voyager. I really enjoyed Enterprise, too.

When I decided to watch DS9, I knew that the stories were intermingled with the last two seasons of TNG. So, I found a list of chronological (by star date) shows. So I just followed the list. I bounced between TNG and DS9. The stories on both made more sense (the Cardassians, the Romulans, etc). Eventually TNG shows ran out and I finished DS9 on its own. It was a great way to watch it all.

But Discovery is only 3 season in (4?, I forget off hand). Watch that. It's sensational. Then work your way thru TNG and start to incorporate DS9. But all the shows are on that list.

As far as movies, I love the reboots: Star Trek, Into Darkness, Beyond. I wasn't a huge fan of Generations, but it was interesting to see Kirk and Picard on screen together. Edward Norton is in it briefly, too. I enjoyed Nemesis, Insurrection and First Contact. I've only watched the original series movies once, so I can't comment on those as much.

You do realize that "Heaven Can Wait" starring Warren Beatty was actually a remake of the 1941 movie "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" starring Robert Montgomery - not the 1943 "Heaven Can Wait" with Don Ameche … right?

"Here Comes Mr. Jordan" is better in every way.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Bishop's Wife vs The Preacher's Wife, or Guess Who's Coming To Dinner vs Guess Who (although, that one is no contest; GWCTD is superior).

The popular shows for Star Trek are The original, The Next Generation, and Voyager. I personally like the Voyager series best (season 4 through season 7) the first 3 seasons are okay. And overall Voyager is less cheesy than the original 2 tv series.

I love Voyager

7 of Nines is the reason the show became a hit and the best character on the show. (Love the doctor too).

That is true but I love the show even before Jeri Ryan joined the cast. Love the theme of the show, Voyager being stuck in galaxy far far away (ooops wrong franchise). Was so happy when I heard that Robert Picardo (The Doctor) was going to be a cast member because I loved him as the P.E teacher on the Wonder Years.

From what I saw Discovery and all the JJ Abrams are not all that much Darker than TNG/DS9/Voyager and Enterprise
