You have people telling DC what they want and instead DC turn around and make movies nobody wants to see and then wonders why their movies keep failing at the box office. It's actually kind of funny in a sad kind of way.

Not all of them. Aquaman & Joker both made over a billion worldwide. Shazam! made enough to get 2 sequels (if you count Black Adam). The Lego Batman Movie did pretty good too since it had a lower budget.

I'm specifically speaking about the DCEU movies. Of those, Aquaman did well but I'm doubtful that any proposed sequel would do as well because the first one wasn't particularly well received. I actually think it's one of the better DCEU movies but that's like saying "I like that guy, he's the nicest guy in prison". Shazam wasn't a huge success when compared to other superhero movies. Plus it was shit so again, the sequel is unlikely to be as big. Black Adam has The Rock in it so it will probably do decent numbers but The Rock is in it so it will likely be shit too.

So yeah, of the post-Justice League DCEU movies only Aquaman has made "Marvel" money. And it was panned by a lot of critics. Given how well the Snyder Cut has been received you'd think they'd want to take advantage of that by greenlighting a sequel and also putting Man Of Steel 2 and a Ben Affleck solo Batman movie into production but no. What do they do instead? Black Superman and Emo Batman. You couldn't make it up lol

Critics don't buy tickets. lol I don't think a lot of critics liked the "live" action Lion King & Disney's other live action remakes of their cartoon movies. But Lion King & Aladdin with Will Smith made over a billion. Transformers & Madea movies also make a lot of money and they aren't praised either. Tyler Perry made enough money to build his own movie studio which other studios have used. Marvel has filmed there. Critics and the mainstream public are two different things. Critics never really have anything to do with something being a success either in music, TV, books, movies, or any other type of entertainment. Critics tend to like "art films" that hardly anybody sees. razz

True but it's a good indication of whether a movie was well received or not. A lot of people may have went to see Aquaman and been disappointed. So much so that they won't go see a sequel. Which leads to declining box office for the series as a whole. It doesn't always work out that way but with blockbusters, word of mouth can kill a series quite quickly. The MCU has, especially in recent times, seen their movies highly praised by critics which may be one reason for their high box office performance for lesser known characters like Captain Marvel and Black Panther.

I think Black Panther was sucessful for another reason, at least in the USA. Many black churches went as groups and there were several fundraisers to take inner city youth to see it. That doesn't happen with the average movie, no matter what it is. It is the highest grossing solo Marvel movie in the US. It even made more than Infinity War in the US. Marvel is not going to replace Chadwick Boseman because he meant a lot to people.

There's going to be a Super Pets movie and The Rock is supposed to voice Krypto. I used to watch Superfriends and I don't remember Krypto talking.

My ex had a dog called Krypto. He was a Yorkshire terrier (the dog, not my ex). First time I met him he bit me on the ankle (once again, the dog, not my ex). In time, I trained him to do little tricks and obey my every command (my ex, not the dog) lol

But seriously, I loved that little dog.

Krypto was not on the Superfriends, it was Wonder Dog, he kinda talked, sounded a lot like Scooby Doo

I watched the entire movie that says something that at least I could follow the plot with relative ease given split attention.

Looks like Shazam! has a new outfit. They've recently started filming the sequel

Absolutely hated the first one so I'll be avoiding this like the plague.

Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey are not meant to be taken seriously. Highly enjoyable as punkish bubblegum for the eyes.

You guys are jaded, lol.

I don't take ANY superhero movie seriously. But Suicide Squad and Birds Of Prey are just awful movies, even by comic book standards. Terrible scripts, awful performances, almost non-existent plot, cringey attempt at being "edgy" and even if they didn't suffer from all these problems, they feature completely uninteresting characters who range from barely tolerable to completely hateable. And they're all forgettable.

Uh, what? Deadshot and Harley Quinn are anything but forgettable.

And Birds of Prey was better than the average "screwball" movie. With some genuinely funny moments.

Will Smith's portrayal is the very definition of forgettable. Margot Robbie should have been good casting as Harley Quinn but again, the way the character is portrayed is just not even remotely interesting. Her performance in Suicide Squad was all over the place. Then again, that whole movie was all over the place. And Birds Of Prey was cringey at best. I don't know what you found funny about it but it certainly didn't make me laugh.

My biggest problem with the Harley Quinn movies has been that in neither Suicide Squad nor Birds Of Prey have they properly explored her backstory. They had a few flashback sequences in Suicide Squad but nothing that fully explains how she went from psychiatrist to psycho. The animated series did a better job. I'm not expecting or even wanting them to go the full Joaquin Phoenix Joker route but I'd rather have a few minutes of screen time devoted to exploring why she's the way she is than hearing about her love of egg sandwiches or other nonsense like that.
