What's your hobby?

This is mine lately, and I very much enjoy it. I make and sell quilts. What's your hobby? Show it off.

Edit: added my two most recent quilts on top.

Those are beautiful Trivial. My favorite hobby is one that I have been away from for a few years but plan to resume, which is scubadiving. I also love intense workouts in the pool. I follow new music, independent movies, and all of LSU sports. I enjoy hiking and being in nature. This is starting to sound like a dating profile, so I better stop lol.

First of all, those quilts are fantastic. I specifically like the one with the hearts and the second last one. My sewing skills are such that I can repair a minor rip in clothing but that's about it. I'd never be able to make anything as good as that.

As for my own hobbies, I'm pretty boring. I like reading and watching movies. And a few years ago I got heavily invested in videogames, which has probably become my main hobby. But with two kids and one on the way, my play time is extremely limited. But this particular pregnancy has been quite hard on me so far and playing games helps keep my mind off it. So I plan on doing more of that. I also enjoy going out with my daughter on roller skates. Although I've had to cut back on that entirely until after the baby is born. Another hobby of mine is making music and contributing to friends work. It used to be my main source of income but I'm semi-retired now and just do it for fun.

I've gotten into photography.
Love to go around photographing the world around me.
Need to learn proper technique (still use "auto" settings) in order to amp up my game.

Wow, these are beautiful! Did you make all of these? I wish I had a talent like that.

I'm not sure if these are hobbies, but I'm an avid reader. I try to read international writers, all subjects, including fiction and non-fiction. I enjoy learning about other cultures. I also love art. My husband and I have visited many museums. We always try to get to one or two on all of our travels. I particularly love the impressionists like Monet, Degas, Renoir, etc.

When I retire in 2 years, I'm going to get a part time job at a used bookstore.

Nice photos.

I was in the midst of taking a series of photography courses before the pandemic. I've began astrophotography (yep off the beaten path stuff) but not for posting not confident yet. And not being able to go out in groups slowed. Woman going to dark isolated places alone, not too bright. But anyway, I've learned so much can't wait to complete the courses.

I love photography as well. I haven't done much this past year, but should. That second photo is great!

Totally made them all myself.

Reading is definitely a hobby. I try to read every single day. Right now I'm reading Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl, As Told By Herself.

I love art, too. I'm a huge Pollack fan.

I dabble in bookbinding, making journals and sketchbooks. I also collect books and maintain a pretty extensive personal library, including a shit-ton of comics. That all involves a bit of buying and selling. Trying my hand at kayaking this summer...

A friend of mine went kayaking once. It got really cold when he was out on the water so he lit a little fire in the boat. Unfortunately the fire burned through the boat and it sank.

Which just proves the saying, "you can't have your kayak and heat it"

That's great! I was always fascinated with collecting books, but never really know what was worth the effort, and what was trash. I didn't want to collected them just because. Do you rebind books that need it?

I don't really collect anything that I don't have a personal interest in, but my interests are wide and varied.

Repairs aren't really my forte, but I've done some minor stuff (usually just glueing). I've hardbound some paperbacks and some small collections of individual comics. Mostly, I like 'new construction'. I find the sewing and the trimming and assembly pretty meditative.

That's how I feel about sewing and quilting. Doing regular piecing is easy, and repetitive. The hum of the machine, the straight line, the needle going into the fabric, colors, sounds. I can put on some music and once I go through about 2 or 3 albums, I've done a good session. I can clear my mind and just sew.

Music. Playing it. Recording it. Listening to it. Collecting it (far, far too much). Lately I've gotten back into playing the cello a lot, for reasons. Other than that collecting and reading comic books and books in general. I've slowed way down on collecting both. Tend to only get new comic books (in physical form) if they're by an author/artist I already know, love and collect (in digital form I'll grab anything - far more than I'll ever read). And books I mostly only buy used now. You can get books all over the place for next to nothing that are likely going to be recycled or sent to a landfill. Been really into non-fiction Native American history lately.
