Goddess4Real said: Coming 2 America (2021) Not as good as the OG, but still entertaining (loved the nod to Prince ), to Wesley Snipes who nearly steals the movie. I give it a 4 out of 5
Just watched Coming 2 America last night. The original is in my top 5 comedies of all time. I can't say I'm disappointed with the sequel because I wasn't expecting it to be any good anyway. It's not terrible but it suffers from the same problems as a lot of modern comedies. Actual jokes have been replaced by shouting. The actors seem to think that if they shout their dialogue it makes it funnier. It doesn't. It's annoying. Leslie Jones is the main culprit. I've only seen her in two movies (both remakes or sequels to my favourite comedies) and she was absolutely awful in both. Eddie and Arsenio are on decent form but far from their best. I personally hated the Gett Off performance and feel that it perfectly sums up this movie as a whole. When Oha sings in the original movie it's this ridiculous moment but played very low key. In the sequel, his "performance" is too wild, too over the top. Any and all subtlety is left at the door in favour of obnoxious, over the top nonsense. There are some funny moments in there. The guys in the barbershop are a highlight. What's here doesn't detract from the original, which remains one of my favourite comedy movies but I'll likely never watch this sequel again.

Havent seen CTA2 yeat but Wesley seems to be on a roll. He stole a lot of scenes in Dolemite is My Name. Good to see him coming back a little bit becasue he's a pretty decent actor who's been in some good stuff.

Nomadland 3/5. It is not the book. Very neutral and heartwarming about unique people from the American heartlands living untethered travelling around America. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This is more of a documentary: It's shown on HBO and is about Tiger Woods. The obsessive influence of his father and to a somewhat lesser degree, his mother, was disturbing. The parents left almost no room for Tiger to experience anything other than golf. It is a tragedy in some respects.

The Justice League (Snyder Cut) As I type this the credits are rolling so it's maybe a but too fresh in my mind to give a proper opinion on it but I mostly liked it. It's far too long and still has some of the worst special effects I've ever seen in a movie with this kind of budget but it's a huge improvement on the Snyder/Whedon cut. For one, its tone is consistent throughout. Whether you're a fan of it or not depends on how much you liked Man of Steel and Batman Vs Superman. Personally, I didn't love those movies and I don't love this either. Far too many slow motion scenes that just seem to be there to make the movie even longer. Which is par for the course with Zack Snyder. Like I said though, it's a big improvement and is now "pretty decent" instead of "fairly shit". I would love to see a sequel just to see where things go though and hopefully this makes a decent profit so that Snyder is given a chance to follow through and complete his vision.

I liked the movie, but REALLY enjoyed the book more. I think it would have worked better as a documentary, leaving the character narative out and just focusing on the stories of the real people living this life and how they got there. If you will, so will I

Yeah the book talked a lot about Amazon. The film was backed by Disney. They both focused on showing the people in that lifestyle as those who embodied the protestant work ethic. Let's just hope nobody is foolish enough to allow him to direct a sequel. Something tells me that would be crap. Ya but u know that soundtrack would be fire!

The Joker Non-spoiler review: Over all Great acting. I feel that the isolation and madness could have been shown in a quicker and NOT drawn out way. The depiction of Joker needed a little bit more ambitious and together aspect that the actor and director didn't give him. It was more of a man's dissent into madness than an origin story of Joker. The Joker does have madness and chaos in him; they simply forgot to showcase the genious in him. 2.5 out of 5 stars (for script and direction choices.). 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
