SUPERBOWL, 18:30 EST, 7th of February, 2021

First off...

GO BUCS!!!

As a longtime fan since the early 80's when my uncle took me to a game in Tampa, it's a bit surreal to see them in the final again, but with the G.O.A.T. at the helm.

I might have actually ponied up some saved cash to go see my team AT HOME eek biggrin eyepop excited faint

However,

then i thought about it like this:

They are letting around 25 THOUSAND spectators inside Raymond James Stadium, plus faculty, staff, refs, security, musical branch, medical, and the "elite" plus probably many i have forgotten.

GO BUCS!

Don't go to the game, please. I'm highly annoyed that they're letting that many people attend the game. It will, without question, be a super spreader event. But then again, it is Florida. lol

It's disappointing that the NFL hasn't been more stringent with attendance, period. At this point, it's only one season. Hopefully it will be the only one. I just don't understand why they couldn't have done what the NBA did and keep it to zero fans. Well, I do understand actually. Most of the owners in the NFL are old guard wealthy white men who throw large amounts of their fortunes at politicians and various lobbying groups. Allowing the NFL to use local Covid regulations throughout the season was a weak move. You would watch one game with a virtually empty stadium and the next there would be sixteen thousand people. Very frustrating.

I realize the games are outside so there is potentially less risk. But come on, at this point it's just one season, one game. The Super Bowl is watched by a hundred million people on television anyway. The money is not being made on ticket sales (unless you're in the secondary market, but that's another conversation entirely).

Anyway, I'm still excited for the game and didn't mean to hijack your thread. So, yes...

GO BUCS!

I have no skin in this game. Don't honestly care who wins as I'm a lifelong 49ers diehard. For me the choice is the Bucs, mostly, because I've never been a Brady hater. I don't go for the tearing people down when they reach the top. He's the GOAT and I think it would be pretty damn cool to see him win another one. Particularly since we're in roughly the same age bracket. lol Also, the Bucs have sucked forever and it would be fun to see them win one.

But in regards to that "mostly", the other reason I'm going for the Bucs is because several of my family members became Chiefs fans by default when Joe Montana played for them. We ride hard for the 49ers, for sure, but that was never enough for me. So this weekend everyone else will be going for the Chiefs. That alone is enough of a reason for me to root for the Bucs. lol

Root is a weird word, it means so many different things and can be used in so many different ways.

GO BUCS!!

I'm a Raider fan (poor me) but I am all about Patrick Mahomes for this one. I like him and feel relaxed while watching him because of his natural ability and confidence. He reminds me of Joe Montana.

I’ll only watch for the halftime show. What time will that specifically air?

Kickoff is 3:30 PM PST (6:30 PM EST)

There's no way to tell exactly when halftime will be. Games are usually around three hours+, but Super Bowls run long. Doubtful halftime will be before 5:00 PM PST, but you might want to tune in at 4:45ish just to be safe.

Chiefs are getting owned right now - 8 penalties??? Offense is out of synch, and a HUGE drop by Kelce.

Bucs defense is stepping up.

I want to be positive and I know it's not The Weekend's fault. But this is a really bad halftime show.

I was about to say something about it
It's already a bad performance when I realised he was lip synching

Never ever in my life did I think I'd hear a Siouxsie and the Banshees song played during a Super Bowl halftime show.

Which song? I was just thinking that I liked The Weekend, but then i realized I probably liked it becasue it it reminded me of 80's New Wave and when I was a kid.

"House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls" incorporates the chorus from "Happy House" by the Banshees. https://www.youtube.com/w...mR6-neQBPE

I really like it. Never heard it before. But listing to 80's music today i realize how tame it was compared to today's music.

Yeah Boomer and Nate (Offensive players). Sorry but Buccaneers just outplayed the Chiefs. Hill had 1 or 2 good plays. Mahomes was inconsistent and was playing hurt later on.

From ESPN's Mina Kimes;

Mahomes was pressured on 29/56 dropbacks--the most of any QB in Super Bowl history. Brady was pressured on 4/30--the lowest of his SB career.
