I am kinda neutral about dogs primarily because of many owner's weird behavior. I don't like it when people bring their dogs inside restaurants/ stores, allow them to bark incessantly, run off-leash (he won't bite you...), etc.

dogs are disgusting and should be left at home and outdoors, and away from the public...i refuse to visit people that keep dogs in their house... those people are predominantly filthy, and their homes and furniture are stench and hair ridden

You can tell alot about a person by how their dog behaves.

I used to think I wanted a cute little dog like Chester on the TV show "The Nanny". Uh....no honey, Chester was right where he belonged on TV where he was paid a nice salary to keep getting his hair done so he could continue looking cute. Chester better be glad he was not living with me this year. By the time I got through spending all that money on the "Sign O The Times" Deluxe album, Chester would have been looking like James Brown's mug shot.

Truth. I like dogs but unfortunately I'm not in that space where I have the time to tend to one.

Also my wife hates pets. She doesn't go to anyone's house with a pet. I know if I get one his residence would be permanently outside. Another problem would be nosy neighbors wondering why my dog is outside in 29 degree weather. And just like you said dogs have better survival instincts than humans. Of course I'm not speaking of miniature house dogs. Like Soul stated I like German Shephards. One of my childhood friends has one and he is a very good guard dog. I just don't have time for these folks that value dogs over humans.

Dogs are OK. Right now I'm not really feeling them though. My neighbor has a dog that will not shut up. It's 3:57 AM and the dog was just barking for about 20 minutes straight.

I never understood the excessive love for dogs. They are great companions etc, but except in extreme situations (Hitler's life or a dogs life etc), their lives are in no way comparable to the lives of humans. It's crazy to think that some animals are treated better than some humans.

Anyways, I'm a cat person, so..

If you decide to adopt a dog as a part of your family, PLEASE train it to be a good dog.

I cuss out loud every time those commercials come on.

I fear we are already too far gone when it comes to dogs.

We are currently looking for a new home and it will entail assessing neighbors on either side

for possible dog issues., ie, barking, off-leash charging etc.

Facts all day Andy. You always crack me up on god! For real, I really don't have the expenses for dog maintenance. Many times its why families give them up especially when they start having kids. My albums are my expenses too lol. I was told us it was going to be 350.00 for her to go to the doctor once for some diarrhea. We changed her food and she was fine. I told my bf from now on we doing our own google searches instead of needlessly spending cash unless an emergency. Even for a check up it ran over 200.00 for each dog!

Oh HELL naw! $350 for some diarrhea. Honey, I would put a diaper on her ass. The hell with the vet. Keep that money and go to the grocery store and buy her some Pampers.
