Any Ebay Sellers Here?

I guess I will be looking elsewhere to sell. Ebay now requires sellers to provide their SSN to report sales to the IRS. Funds also will not be processed thru Paypal anymore. Ebay will pay sellers directly. I wonder why they are implementing these changes? I can maybe see this for sellers whos main source of income is ebay. But for the little guy like me, Im not giving them such sensitive info just to make a couple two or three hundred dollars a year.

Yeah.

But, the potential buyers are still the main problem wanting less than half the price!

eBay owned PayPal for a long while, then spun off into its own public comapny. PayPal has been the go-to method. However, there was a lot of fraud. People would sell items, get paid with PayPal, then the buyer would file a claim against the seller, saying they never got the item in question, it was damaged, not as described, or whatever. And PayPal would normally reverse the charge and take the hit on the money or whatever. So the seller had money taken back out of their account for the sale, the buyer got a refund and kept the item (which was normally just fine).

People do it all the time, which is part of the reason I'm leary of using PayPal for a lot of things. Venmo is PayPal's consumer based app, (whereas PayPal has a bigger focus on being Business oriented now), and there's also CashApp. Frankly, you can easily get a PayPal debit card to use with your PP account, so if you have to enter a real debit/credit card, there ya go. It's a work around.

Just as a side note: I remember when PayPal used to be X.com which was founded by Elon Musk. It joined with Confinity and morphed into PayPal as we know it. I think Confinity was Musk's company, and merged with X.com later.

I'm a seller. Found nifty ways of making what i sell pay for the things i buy (most of the time). Find a niche and do some research. Find people who aren't increasing any time in the research aspect. Buy stuff cheap. If you don't want it, relist it catering to the niche.

At least that's how i do it.

I have not received any information about this sort of transition happening.

Does this only apply to people who commit to opening a "STORE" ONLINE?

As i am right now I'm just an individual buyer and seller. I don't have the resources enough to fully operate a "store"

That is good! I still have to find out if the CDs and DVDs that my sister ordered for me three months ago is at The General Post Office near me?

A new or different mail man/woman did not leave any mail slip in my box telling me to call to schedule redelivery. I guess someone wanted to take the package to see what they could get?

No more oderering packages via USPS for me! Only UPS or FedEx! They leave notes(several notes) and they walk up stairs!

Good that I told my sister to order me CD, DVds from the 80s, 90s, if I do not get the packages(it won't be a humungous upset!).

No. I dont have an ebay store. I just sell knick-knacks around the house I no longer need. Maybe they are just slowly rolling this new process out to sellers instead of all at once? Below is the link to the new payout process. Payments will be paid directly from ebay and go into your bank account but ebay needs to confirm your identity.

Confirming your identity

To complete your verification, we'll need to confirm your identity. If you’re a Registered Business seller, we’ll need to confirm information about your business, as well as any beneficial owners, officers, directors, or account managers.

Individual sellers (one person or a married couple) will need to provide:

  • Full name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
