Some supers harass tenants!

No one answered the(general phone number)at the police station near me, so I called 911.

I waited four hrs, then a young man and his female partner arrived!

I told them that I want to file a Harrassment report against the super. The Young Guy told me that "He Can't file a Harrassment Report Against The Super Because "No Violence Occurred".

That Does Not Make sense! [So I complained about that Young Police Officer too!]. I also notified the management agency of my building.

I will go to court - if I continue to get harrassed by the Super!

If I was 65 or older, the cops would probably remark: "That old lady is Crazy". Some people said that about my mother in the past when she was in her 60s and older!

And I grew up in New York City! Me and my friends saw and heard about some horrific things on the block I used to live at(8 years old)in Prospect Ave, two blocks near the Bronx Zoo.

I am so sorry, but I have lived in two big cities already (Berlin and London), and that kind of waiting time/queues for filing form is something very common sadly... good luck for the next time!

Was the super of the building where you live secretly checking your mail?

What do you mean by harrass?

Was your mother being harrasses, too?

By the same super?

The one that used to be the super and the new super:

Watch the tenants when the tenants throw out garbage.

Watch the tenants when they are coming in and out of the building.

Gossip about tenants with other tenants who live in the building(especially a tenant who receives housing assistance or
an elderly tenant.

They knock on the tenants doors late at night, with the excuse that
they need to know if a tenant has a washing machine, air conditioner,
or small kids living in the apartment.

They start to sweep or clean the hallway when tenants are standing in the hallway or by the front door of the building.

Sometimes they Verbally harass the tenants, acting as if they are the landlord.

They also like to take stuff that the tenants throw out
or take stuff from the tenants apartment when a tenant gets
evicted!

When they enter a tenant's apartment, they constantly look at the furniture and stuff in the apartment.

I am sure many others tenants in New York City or other states has had a similar situation with the Super of their building or knows someone who has!

I am just annoyed!

Tenants should not tell their nosy neighbors "everything" about their life or the supers, they are being overly nosy for a reason! And if a tenant has a problem, they should go to Housing Court.

None of these things sound like criminal actions; you would need to file a law suit in civil court.

I would contact the owner of the building and city management. There could be laws on the books that can protect you. For instance, if you feel threatened by his behavior that may be enough. Only if they are trying to intimidate you etc.

It is 32 deg, no heat. This has been happening since I was 18, living in the same apartment that my mother and brother also lived at. My brother died 20 years ago.

I was looking at the building me, my mother and brother lived at in Brooklyn in the early 1980s, it looks the same. A lot of new buildings and apartment complexes has been built in Brooklyn in the last 35 years!

We used to go to Saint Anthony's Catholic Church and McCarren Park.

That's not what 911 is for. You're lucky they didn't cite you.

It was a Sunday, no one answered the general phone number I told the 911 operator that I am calling them because no one is answering the general number!

Let me clarify: this is not a matter for the police, at all. That's what the housing authority is for.

I know! Going to court is a way to prevent/stop Harrassment from a Super.

I would love to be there when you present your case.
"Your honor - this man is harassing me!"
"And how is he harrassing you?"
"Well for one he sweeps around the building! And he keeps an eye on who goes in and out of the building!"
"NOT GUILTY! NEXT!"

The ironic thing, the new Super does not live in the building, he only stops by to put out the garbage, clean or if someone calls him. Then he leaves. He probably works in several buildings!

The previous Super who retired, lived in the building for over 15 years, and the Super before him also lived in the building many years.
