PICARD series

I am a huge fan of Star Trek the Next Generation and Capt Picard

If you are a fan of this series, what are your thoughts, perceptions, critiques etc??

I have not seen it yet. Will need to subscribe to a streaming service or a channel to watch it.
But just might risk buying the DVD

Loved it. It's slow as heck though. A lot of older people in it with a sprinkling of really young people. Many of your favorites from TNG (and 7of9) make an appearance. Visually very warm. Lots of Earth living in the first couple of episodes. Uses plenty of CGI but isn't dependent on it, more character relation driven.

I love Star Trek stuff, love Love LOVE Discovery, and was very anticipatory of Picard. But...

I WAS BORED OUT OF MY FARKIN' SKULL!

The first couple of episodes, great. Then it's a short howevermany of prepping and getting ready to do something. They're always rushing and never really get anywhere. The last two episodes finally do something, I guess. But episodes 3-8 are a yawnfest. The interest level declines quickly.

The episode with the Riker family was cute for a cameo and all, but it still didn't do much for the storyline.

I wouldn't have minded a more personal non-spacy storyline; something earthy, organic, human interest type thing. That would've been a different and welcomed turn (but what's Star Trek without some technology?). I'm sorta waiting for someone to whittle it down to a 2-hour movie (much like someone did a fan edit of The Phantom Menace into a more tolerable viewing).

It sounds like a missed James Brown song. "Hurryin' Up And Goin' Nowhere."

The characters on (our) right in the picture remind me of an ice cream cone.

Picard doesn't get good until the last 2 episodes. The others feel like set up. It is also a darker themed version of Star Trek than we are used to. I think the second season will be better (no more set up required.).

Prime will never have it as a Prime show. It's a CBS All-Access property. You can add CBS All-Access as a Prime channel, but it's still CBS All-access you're paying for and subscribing to either paying for it thru your Prime membership or directly thru the CBS All-Access app. I don't see that release date anywhere when I search for it on Prime. Just points to CBS All Access.

You'll be readings subtext thru half the series because of the Klingons. It lost me when she had to show her bunkmate how to go jogging. It's star fleet not a college dorm. The best of the best are supposed to make it in. And the instantaneous transport introduced by the giant water bear is too much of a plot short cut for me. It's very action filled and fast paced but it bored me, I don't care how anybody ends up so I stopped watching. Obviously though a lot of people love it.

STAR TREK CONTINUES revises the RELEASE DATES for its final two episodes! – Fan Film Factor

If you haven't seen it I suggest watching Star Trek continues instead. Yes it's a fan made series however ever production value, stories, actors, are top notch.
