Anyone with a High School Senior right now...?

How are you and/or your child dealing with the possibility of having no Graduation ceremony or prom dance?

My youngest is a Senior, and he genuinely busted his ASS to get good grades and to be an active member of the school. I feel so bad that he might not have a graduation ceremony, or prom, or even the School Musical that he practiced hard for (Dreamgirls) and will probably never be seen!

sad

My high school graduation didn’t take place until the fall of that year, is there a possibility they will do this at your sons school?

Since every senior just about in the country is going through the same thing there are a few options online from virtual to drive-in ceremonies. This will definitely be a unique claes.

Yes, that's what we're planning - a "zoom" type celebration at home.

I guess taking a cue from older folks I've watched celebrate life milestones online, couple the Zoom thingy with a healthy dose of decorations, encourage everyone to actually get dressed for the event, serve the honoree's favorite foods and try to turn it into a festive digital party. party guitar hug

Community Over Crisis: Principal drives 800 miles to visit Graduating seniors

High School graduation is a rite of passage, in Texas a principal in Texas wanted to give seniors a version of it despite the coronavirus. He and his wife tried to visit every graduation senior at his school…all 612 of them. It took them 12 days, and about eight hundred miles.

The school district is trying to see if they can plan a "drive thru" graduation, and before then, to drop off signs & banners at each Senior's home.

Let's see....

I hope it works out! I like the idea of gifting the kids with signs and banners, too. cool They need sonething tangible to mark the occasion in place of being with their teachers and friends. Don't know if it's of interest, but as someone already mentioned there are going to be public figures giving commencement addresses online: I think President Obama and Michelle are doing one for the kids. Making sure the kids have at least one nice speech to lift their spirits and inspire them a little could be a nice touch to a general home celebration. Beyond that, I guess a lot of folks will be raiding the Dollar Store for decorations, serving party food and teaching their kids how to do a Soul Train Line.
