That was one of the down sides of reading pre movie discussions. I thought I woiuld see Yoda Mace and a few others appear. Someone even created a realistic image of the voices appeared as ghosts behind Rey.

Yeah Hayden did a really good in ROTS and he carried the part well.
He and the guy that played Obiwan were spotted last year leaving or going to a secret meeting. I suspect it's more in connection with the planned Obiwan series/movie.

I read somewhere that Hayden Christensen was going to be in the Obi Wan show so I think you may be right. I can't see how they could work him into it though unless it's through flashbacks to the Clone Wars or something?
Yes, that is what was going around. It made people speculate they might appear in Ep 9
He might appear in Obiwan as Darth Vader behind the mask, that would be cool |

I mean, I'm always up for more Darth Vader but assuming the Obi Wan show is set between Episodes 3 and 4, would having them square off in the show not devalue their scene in Episode 4? Although I suppose you could still have Vader in it without having them meet. They could use it as an opportunity to address a plot hole. Like, surely Darth Vader would have known where to look for his children. Just check where his extended family live. But in the Obi Wan show, they could have a scene where he finds out that his son is there but opts against going after him. Kind of sowing the seeds for his eventual turn back to the light. |

I actually think - in general - the "going back " is a mistake by disney ...
I think new stories should go forward ...
I think the prequel suffered because we kinda knew what was going to happen ...
While alot of people loved rogue one - i found it somewhat boring . I think Solo was
more of the same .
Keep going with Rey and FInn and Poe etc ... or just one ... if Finn is force sensitive ... there is alot there that could be developed .. we will see . Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet. |

It alleged that INDUSTRY fucked over JJ and cut the film themselves without him getting final cut. Part of the long detailed relayed info "from an insider" stated there WAS A SCENE with multiple force ghosts either fighting or protecting Rey. And also that DISNEY insisted on a kiss which JJ LOATHED among other things. IIdon't know anybody on it and i don't really plan to see the mess- nectar people vote with their DOLLARS ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫ |

No I don't mean to square off. He didn't know about Obiwan until a New Hope
But scenes with Vader in that time period would be cool.
In the novel, Obiwan is in a cantina and there is a news tube where he sees Darth Vader and realizes Anakin is still alive |

I suspect, they know there are people that don't care about these new characters
so they want to keep dual interest in Star Wars. I think like with the Clone Wars and Marvel comics there are so great back stories to be told. Especially stuff within the Empire time period
And yes they will most likely tell new stories with Rey Finn etc
I thought Rogue One was a very week story. Didn't need to be told. The characters were hollow. Vader was the most exciting part of it.

i am glad you said that about rogue one ... i think there is always a problem when the highlight of the show is the evil lord vader ! i felt the same way ...
i did see it a second time and it wasnt as bad ... for me tho - the plot was just lessoned cus u knew they were gonna die in the end .. so all the charactor development that they did ... was just for them to die in the end ... for the noble cause ... etc .. Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet. |

And yet I think Rogue One was the best out of the Disney Star Wars, that shows that there can be great SW movies without the established characters. |

LOL true, and he only appeared at the end.
Well I guess, Vader is a fan favorite just like Luke or Han is.
We want to see more of him in action. Like the fan made film piece fight between Obiwan and Vader on the Death Star. With more technology we wanted to see what they could do.
.
I was going to buy the 'Art of...' book for Rogue One and even that was boring, just no real deptch or anything. It was on sale and I had a discount coupon and still chose to skip oveer it.
I liked the droid. I usually do like the droids.
I think many fans thought we were going to get the story of the 2nd Death Star plans with the Bothans. I think that might have been more interesting. |

Well that a boring story can be the best, means the others were 'really' bad lol
But yes I agree, there can be great SW movies/stories without the established characters.
The lead character was just so boring. They tried to give her a troubled past(with her father?) to make her complex I guess but it just didn't work for me. The 'samurai' character that was allegedly force sensitive, could have given more to the movie, He and the droid were the most interesting. Yet he fell flat because he was just a bit to 'samurai' and there could have been more to him. I just didn't feel anything for them (except for the droid) at the end. |

I read somewhere that JJ and the actors all weren't happy with the end result Disney and Kathleen Kennedy conjured up. JJ didn't even want Palpatine in it because of ROTJ and Vaders end but he got fucked over by Rian Johnson killing off Snoke and Kathleen Kennedy demanding Palpatine be in it as the big bad. IMO Episode IX is more a sort of Episode VIII and IX combined if you look at all teh retcons JJ put in it. I think JJ actually had a trilogy plan but Disney and KK killed his ideas. To me thgis last trilogy is just Disney fanfic. I'll stick with Episodes 1 through 6 and teh EU novels as canon. I don;t care for the TV shows or cartoons (except for teh original Tartakovsky Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, it would have been great if Jon Favreau was given the directing job of these last three becuase he seems to have a better understanding of what makes Star Wars great instead of JJ or Rian and KK.)
