Analyze My Dream™ "ScissorBaby"

This was one of those dreams where you are a direct observer but nobody, neither the good or evil characters, know you are present.

I saw a man who had a grotesque deformity on his right arm. From the shoulder down to the wrist, the man's arm was bare flesh. No skin, just muscle, bones and veins. At the end of the arm was a baby's head. It was lumpy and deformed and it was evil. The man didn't want this thing but it was a part of him and it controlled him.

The man found somebody that would help him kill the baby headed extension. The baby was seemingly unaware of this plot to distinguish it's existence.

The baby laden man brought the assailant into his house and they prepared for the baby's demise. They were in the kitchen and as the man's helper prepared to smash the engorged baby cranium with a hammer, the arm grew and extended away from both the men. It then turned at a right angle into the next room and continued growing and then grew and turned at 2 more right angles until it was behind the assailant. This happened in a matter of 2 seconds. It was very quick. As the baby head appeared behind the man with the hammer, it's head opened up and giant scissors came out and cut the assailants head off.

Before the head could hit the floor the arm retracted to it's original length. The man then ran to the toilet and plunged his arm into the water in hopes of drowning the baby head. It extended out of the water cutting the man's arm off, basically ensuring that the man now had to rely on the baby arm as it was the only arm he had...

I woke up.

the baby in the dream is probably you. i'm assuming you are right handed, which is why the head was attached to your right arm.

babies in dreams usually are trying to tell you something about your development in a particular area in your life. it could be telling you that you have to make a change or are about to change something in your life.

the fact that it was just the baby's head means you are preventing the growth and you need to look at what you are doing that is preventing it.

the fact that your skin was missing and revealing what is underneath means you are looking for some type of answers within yourself that are about to be revealed.

the new you is cutting off or getting rid of the old areas of your life that's why it cut off your head and arm.

pay attention to how you felt. was it disturbing to you or comforting and that will give you some clue to how you feel about this new chapter in your life and what it is.

(this is a hobby of mine, so org note me if you have any other questions. also, i'd like to know if i'm right big grin)

Very interesting take. First off, I was terrified the whole time. It was very graphic and violent. That baby head was evil. As evil as any monster in any movie you'd see. My primary reason for terror was that I was a direct witness to these events and was afraid that the baby head would attack me.

Second, I was not the person with the baby head arm, I was a spectator basically watching this all go down.

if you weren't the baby, maybe it's a friend that you are watching move into a bad part or area of his or her life. is there anyone, a friend or family member, that you are worried or concerned about?

I worry about everyone I know!! I'm not worried to a great extent about any one individual, and certainly not to this extent.

Did you ever see that Arnold Schwartzenegar movie Total Recall? The guy who had that head sticking out of his stomach...the baby head looked a lot like that.

Sorry - I'm just a smart ass who doesn't even remember his own dreams. boxed

In my attempt at being "funny" (note: attempt) I failed to give you comfort and direction in what apparently was a truly scary and confusing moment in your subconscious.

Sorry. I hope you figure it out. I have no idea. duh

Maybe you ate too much cheese before you went to bed? (I have a feeling that's not going to travel too well!)

If not, I think you simply have a repressed fear of freak-skinnedarm-babyheaded-scissorweilding-monsters.

Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm not too keen on them myself.

My mom learned how to analyze dreams from one of my Hungarian gypsy relatives and she would say that the baby is good luck and that everything in a dream usually means the opposite...
So, the evil baby is actually bringing you good luck and you will be protected from things that are standing in your way or trying to harm you.
So, it's probably not a bad dream at all. Don't worry sweetie, just embrace your inner, scissor-headed child hug and watch the Power Puff Girls before you go to bed...they're sweet and nice and will fill your head with good stuff before you go to sleep smile

Okay, first off, since the person in the dream wasn't you, that's significant. That doesn't mean that the person couldn't be a representation of you, just that it isn't you as you perceive yourself. More than likely, the person in the dream rpresents an area of you life you feel you have no control over. Is anyone in your life dealing with any kind of addictions, or perhaps a negative relationship that they can't seem to get out of? Obviously, the baby's head is a negative trait someone can't seem to overcome. The arm having no skin represents the person being exposed and vulnerable (Since you were able to draw a comparison to the baby head and the image from Total Recall its obvious your mind picked this image because of how disturbing you found it).

Now, I really doubt the person is suppossed to be you, but I would be remiss if I didn't at least explore the possibility. In particular, I would like to know how you dealt with your realization that you were gay. Was it traumatic, or comforting? Did your family react positively, or were they less than supportive? Did your family have strong religious convictions that made them feel your sexuality was "evil"? Like I said, I really don't think the person in the dream is you at all, but it would be a mistake to not at least examine this.

OK, one area of my life in which I desire much more control is my relationship with my boyfriend. I didn't recognize anyone in the dream, certainly not Scissorbaby. And if Scissorbaby represents me, that's great because in all reality, you really shouldn't fuck with me pissed

I doubt that it has anything to do with my sexuality. I've been out of the closet for 15 years and have dealt with all that. It was a very traumatic experience but I'm well beyond the trauma I experienced from it.

You may be well beyond the trauma, but the effects of it are still in your memory. Therefore, they can manifest themselves in your dreams. It is possible that the "Scissor baby" represents how you felt about your sexuality at the time. It was viewed as soemthing you wanted to get rid of, yet it was part of you. As you got closer to accepting your sexuality, you were unable to live any other way (hence it cutting off your other arm, insuring that it cannot be denied any longer). I'm not saying that this is DEFINITELY what your dream means, but it is certainly a possibility.

Now, you mentioned wanting to have "more control" in your relationship with your boyfriend. The arm could be that relationship, and you feeling helpless to change the circumstances that define it. It is also possible that the arm is you, and your desire to destroy any lack of control you have over the situation. This may explain why no one in the dream looked familiar. Its not your BOYFRIEND that you want to gain some control over, but the relationship itself. This may be something that you are stuggling with yourself. Do others see you as controlling? If not, then you may be having trouble with feeling like you need more control.

Unfortunately, dream interpretation is far easier when you can talk face to face with a person, Since I don't know you that well, I can only come up with a few different scenaios. If we actually had an hour or so to talk face to face, we could probably nail down a more specific meaning. If any of these interps strike a chord with you, then explore them further. In your subconcious, you already know what everything signifies within this dream, so any familiar feeling should be noted. Let me know what you think.

absolutely! I just thought I would be remiss if i didn't ask about the sexuality angle. I've known a lot of gay folks who had difficult times coming to term with who they are, so it was worth exploring. I think it is highly likely that it is about your lack of control in your relationship. The fact that it was a nightmare could be the result of something your subconciousness is trying to tell you, or it could have been the result of something physiological (there are certain foods, medications etc that can create vivid dreams, and they often manifest as nightmares. The imagery is still valid for interp, but it may have been aggravated by some sort of chemical or external stimulus.
