Can U C the beauty in abandoned and run down places?

I've always like 'lonely looking industrial areas' and desert little towns you just happen upon on the thruway. Or grand houses that no one has lived in in 50+yrs, city streets and alleys that could be rarely used or very futuristic looking but deserted, if only for that moment.

If you like that stuff, you'd love the area where I grew up. It's a real dump.

Burnt out cars, abandoned buildings, junkies and drug dealers on every corner. Just Google "Ballymun, Dublin" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Photographer Matthew Christopher visited Six Flags New Orleans, a theme park so devastated by Hurricane Katrina it couldn't be restored.

I follow "Abandoned America" on Facebook, they really get into the nitty gritty sometimes through unofficial means. I enjoy viewing abandoned/forgotten communal spaces including churches, resorts, theme parks, and theatres. Makes me think of Badu's "A.D. 2000" cool

Rumors state that the home was left alone after a gruesome murder or suicide – but still, no one knows. Today, it is left largely alone and visitors are advised to stay away from it. To us, it looks like the scene of a new horror film!

Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, Ukraine It may be a surprise, but nature has reclaimed much of this highly radioactive place. Trees grow unhindered, poking through the communist concrete, flowers bloom in the spring, and a team of horses thrives after only a few were released into the area to see if animals could survive. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is safe to visit for tourists, but can be explored on guided tours only.

Royalty? The closest thing to royalty I met was Michael Jackson, AKA The King of Pop, backstage when he played in Ireland. But I was only something like 3 years old. And I barely remember it. And I was still living in Ballymun at the time.

I do have a friend called Princess though. Seriously, that's her actual name. Princess. Nigerian girl. I don't think that counts as royalty though.
