Here's a depressing thought. This is the final season of Game of Thrones. This is the final season of Veep. This is only a one off special for Deadwood. Moving away from HBO, this is the final season of Gotham. Agents of Shield has just 2 more seasons left before it all ends. Back to HBO, The Sopranos prequel, "The Many Saints of Newark", is also just a one off special, similar to Deadwood.
Basically, what I'm saying is that after 2019 is over, I might as well throw my TV away because I'll have nothing to watch.

I doubt it will but Im hopeful and cant wait for it. Im a fan of the boom and the overwrought movie so its all gravy to me even if it ends up being cheesy. If anything, being on HBO gives me hope it will be good. I still have to see Westworld 1-2. Heard good things about the first season but that the second was lackluster.
^Mine would be Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. I lost interest in the Deadwood series, but this movie looks promising.
Don't get me wrong, there's LOADS of movies I'm looking forward to this year, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is one of them, but I will choose Timothy Olyphant over Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio any day. Seriously, he is THE perfect man. And if he's dressed up like a cowboy, then that's all the better.
Although I should point out that Timothy Olyphant is also in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But I don't think he plays a cowboy. [Edited 3/22/19 16:34pm]

I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago. Now, as a massive Deadwood fan, my interaction with him was basically 20 minutes of me bugging him about "when are you doing another season of Deadwood? I heard you might do a movie instead, when will that be? Can you please do whatever you can to finish Deadwood? Do you think you'll ever do another Deadwood"? That was pretty much it. And at the end of it all, he said "if it's the last thing I do, I will finish Deadwood". Now, I honestly think he was getting really sick of me. If not for all the Deadwood questions, then it was the numerous times I asked him for Timothy Olyphant's phone number, so when he "promised" me he'd finish Deadwood if its the last he'd do, it looks like that could be true. This might his final completed work. I hope not. But if it is, it's kind of fitting that he's going out with this show.

i'm more a fan of 'nypd blue'. brilliant television. a lot of principal characters on 'deadwood' (jane, ellsworth, dan, the epileptic preacher...) are all performed by 'nypd blue' alum. it's always fun to rewatch either show and see actors pop through on both.
that's cool you got to meet him...i'd've liked to talk to him about his collaboration with michael mann on 'luck'. i have a feeling it didn't go well, but it would've been cool if it continued for a spell.

I've been all around the States at different times but the one place I'd love to visit is Deadwood. I've got books, maps, everything. I even did a history project on the town when I was in school for my leaving cert (that's like the final exams in high school, I don't know what the American equivalent is). History was one of only 4 subjects I got an A in. And I owe it all to Deadwood. Well, in truth, I owe it all to Timothy Olyphant. He's the sole reason I started watching the show in the first place. But the show got me interested in American history, specifically the lives of people like Wild Bill, Seth Bullock and "Calamity Jane". Really fascinating stuff.
I'm currently rewatching the show (again) in preparation for the movie. Every time I watch it, I notice little things I didn't notice before. Possibly the best written show I've ever seen and easily one of the best acted shows of all time. Plus, as an added bonus (for me, anyway) it's got Timothy Olyphant, looking fine as hell. What more could anyone ask for?

the modern town itself is pretty unremarkable...just casinos and bars and gift shops catering to the summer rush of sturgis bound motorcyclists. i did get to see where bill hickok was killed. i was there off-season, so it was pretty much a ghost town. all wet snow and rocks and mud; but if you're able to dissociate yourself from the modernity, it's pretty fucking amazing to stand back and visualize that people managed to scratch out a living there at all. greed is a powerful motivator, i guess.
