Halloween movie 2018
A brand new image from Halloween 2018 has arrived. The debut of the new Halloween movie is inching ever closer and horror fans are growing just as impatient as they are excited. Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode for the first time in 16 years. Now, this new image gives us a look at an older Laurie with her daughter, played by Judy Greer. They're both cowering in fear, no doubt related to the threat of Michael Myers, but exactly what it is that has them looking so frightened is left mysterious. We've still only gotten one Halloween trailer, but the photo reveals keep dropping. While Laurie Strode looks clearly afraid in this new image, the new Halloween is going to be rewriting the history fans are familiar with. This movie is going to serve as a direct sequel to John Carpenter's original 1978 slasher classic and Laurie isn't just going to be running scared. This time around, she's going to be on the offensive and will do her best take out Michael Myers before he can finish what he started four decades ago. This movie is also going to be erasing the element that ...'s brother. Some fans are surely going to feel a bit mixed on the idea that director David Gordon Green and co-writer Danny McBride decided to throw out all of the previous sequels, including the well-liked Halloween II. But the mythology had become a bit muddy and what interesting place could one really take the story if the events of Halloween: Resurrection were still canon? This is, perhaps, the best way to approach the situation. The new Halloween will return to Haddonfield. Though, the actual location is different. The original movie was shot in California, while David Gordon Green filmed in South Dakota. Still, Jamie Lee Curtis felt a strong connection when she first stepped on set. "It felt just like it did on the streets of West Hollywood or South Pasadena. It had this incredible feeling of nostalgia, the simplicity of a small town in America, where this horror takes place. Right away, I was like, 'This is going to be amazing.'" John Carpenter, though not directing, is on board as an executive producer and will be providing the score. Blumhouse and Universal are set to release Halloween in theaters on October 19, after the movie debuts at the Toronto International Film Festival next month. That means we should be getting some early critical reactions relatively soon to give us some idea as to whether or not this is the movie we've all been waiting to see. Be sure to check out the new image, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, for yourself below.

Does this new Halloween movie completely ignore all the sequels and pretend they never happened?

Yup..the other films are ignored. Can't wait to see this.

I'm guessing so. I personally try to forget all the sequels after part 2.

Why even have that??? | |

Why even have that??? Because it was awful. I suppose the thinking behind it was to create some sort of family attachment between them all. Like, we know why Bruce and Alfred are close. Dick Grayson had appeared in the previous movie so, strenuous though it may be, we can see that he's got an attachment to Alfred. So by making Barbara related to Alfred by blood, she now has a reason to be close to him so she is equally as invested in curing his illness as the other two. It was lazy writing and completely unnecessary. The only thing about that movie that is in any way redeemable is Arnold Schwarzenegger's awful puns because it's amusing to think that someone thought it would be a good idea to have him say all these terrible lines. In his book he says that when he got the script he knew it was going to be a disaster but they were paying him 20 million dollars so he just went along with it. Can't blame him for that.

To be fair part 3 was it's "own" movie and had nothing to do with the Halloween movies. I call it season of the witch, was good. Part 4 was ok too. After that honestly I get them all mixed up, the ones without Jamie Lee Curtis in them were super awful, was that the one with Busta Rhymes in it???

Michael Myers should be terrorizing Jamie Lee Curtis' grand kids by now... [Edited 8/11/18 11:08am] "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I think they have her daughter and grand daughter. There is a Karen Strode (daughter guessing) character and Allyson Strode (grand daughter guessing) character in the movie

John Carpenter involved, Michael has one eye, Jamie Lee Curtis returns...wish Donald Pleasence was still alive. This actually looks good!

I think they should try to keep some of the history of the past movies into this movie. Having Michael Myers as her brother makes total sense, that would explain why he's been chasing her for 40 years later. Laurie Strode died in Halloween Resurrection. Easy, she faked her death. Problem solved. Ok the new movie seems to features Laurie Strode's Daughter, Barabara and Grand Daughter Allyson (not 100% sure of this). H20 Laurie had a son named John (Played by Josh Hartnett in his first movie role) and it seems like there is no mention of him in the new film. Ok it's been a long time since I saw H20 but I think the son survived in that movie. For the new movie I would mentioned that Michael Myers killed Laurie Strode's son many years ago. No mention of daughter Barbara in H20 so in this movie you learned Laurie separated all of her children for their protection.
Ok it's been a long time since I seen part 4 and 5 but I recall Jamie Lloyd being Laurie Strode's daughter. I forget does she die in part 5? Well if she didn't die, acknowledge the character and like her son John, Michael Myers also killed her.

[Edited 8/12/18 3:05am] Relatively very few people have seen those movies so there's no need to keep them in the official canon, especially if the new movie is better served by being its own thing.

H2O was excellent. and michael sseemed dead beyond repair when Laurie chopped of his head with a fire ax. wonder how he will be revived after that? seemed fairly definitive that he was dead. finished, kaput. over. done. killed off. went BOOM. went bye-bye. so how can he come back after the head-gone-rolling-down-the-hill thingy???? Would disagree with that. But this movie is aimed at the target audience that grew up with this movie. What is your definition of a very few? Anyway if they did it that way it would mostly be mentioned in the movie about her children being killed and wouldn't take away from the story. If anything it would show why Laurie is out to get Michael Myers. Now not making Michael Myers her brother is wrong, not sure where they are going with this but I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie.

Oh, dear... I haven't seen H2O but I guess spoilers don't matter with this franchise. I seem to recall a horror flick when I was a kid that had a decapitated head that someone dug up and the head controlled the person who dug it up and had him killing people and then the head was somehow reunited with a body (whether it's own or someone else's, I don't remember). In relation to how many people seen the original, I would say that the number of people who saw the sequels is considerably less. They were not particularly well reviewed and when Halloween comes around the first movie is always on TV but the sequels are rarely shown.

It's hard to say really. I think just about the same amount of people who saw Halloween watched part 2. Most people say just watch the first 2 movies. Part 2 has been shown on TV through out the years. In fact the TV version has a lot of extra scenes. SYFY channel would do a Halloween marathon over the years but lately they been playing the horrible Rob Zombie movies instead. Depends on your age, some people's first time seeing a Halloween might be H20. But I agree with you that hard core fans of the first 2 movies may have lost interest when Jamie Lee Curtis left for awhile. But most of the people who are going to see this movie I'm gonna guess has seen more than 1 Halloween movie. [Edited 8/12/18 16:02pm]

If you have not seen the TV Version I would rent it. There many extra and extended scenes in the TV version. There is also a different ending which I won't ruin it for any one. But since this is the TV version there are also scenes cut out. Nude scenes are deleted. Swearing has been dubbed over. Some of the killing scenes has been cut out. Some scenes were re-edited. In the TV version we see more of Dr. Mixter.
