Does this new Halloween movie completely ignore all the sequels and pretend they never happened?

I think they should try to keep some of the history of the past movies into this movie.

Having Michael Myers as her brother makes total sense, that would explain why he's been chasing her for 40 years later.

Laurie Strode died in Halloween Resurrection. Easy, she faked her death. Problem solved.

Ok the new movie seems to features Laurie Strode's Daughter, Barabara and Grand Daughter Allyson (not 100% sure of this). H20 Laurie had a son named John (Played by Josh Hartnett in his first movie role) and it seems like there is no mention of him in the new film. Ok it's been a long time since I saw H20 but I think the son survived in that movie. For the new movie I would mentioned that Michael Myers killed Laurie Strode's son many years ago. No mention of daughter Barbara in H20 so in this movie you learned Laurie separated all of her children for their protection.

Ok it's been a long time since I seen part 4 and 5 but I recall Jamie Lloyd being Laurie Strode's daughter. I forget does she die in part 5? Well if she didn't die, acknowledge the character and like her son John, Michael Myers also killed her.

Relatively very few people have seen those movies so there's no need to keep them in the official canon, especially if the new movie is better served by being its own thing.

“Halloween 4” did pretty good business upon release. Part 5 was trash and a rush job, but I still watch it lol. These movies are on AMC year-round, so quite a few people have seen them at one point or another. Retconning everything after the original is a good move. It doesn’t “erase” anything, but it offers a fresh take on the storyline. Keeping the original “stranger/stalker vs babysitter” premise adds the creep factor back into it for me.

Saw the trailer before watching Slender Man (by the way Slender Man sucked) sounds like the police captured Michael Myers right after Dr. Loomis shot him.

Halloween III is the only entry in the series that does not feature the series antagonist Michael Myers, nor does it include story elements from either Halloween (1978) or Halloween II (1981). In fact, it treats the first film and, apparently, its sequel as fictional films, as one of the characters watches a trailer for the original during the film; additionally, the film's tagline is a reference to the tagline from the original as well. It also departs from the slasher genre which the first two installments were part of, instead featuring a "witchcraft" theme with science fiction aspects and parallels to old Celtic fairy tales. Carpenter and Hill believed that the Halloween series had the potential to branch into an anthology series of horror films that centered around the night of Halloween, with each film containing its own characters, setting, and storyline. Director Wallace stated that there were many ideas for Halloween-themed films, some of which could have potentially created any number of their own sequels, and that Season of the Witch was meant to be the first of the anthology series. However, after the film's disappointing critical reception and box-office gross, Michael Myers was brought back six years later in Halloween 4: The Return o...hael Myers (1988). Despite an initially negative reception for the film, largely due to fan disappointment over the absence of Michael Myers, re-evaluation over the past three decades has given Halloween III new legions of fans and established its reputation as a standalone cult film

Bit gutted they're discounting the original Halloween II, didn't think that was too bad ...

You're right....Halloween II,released in 1981,wasn't too bad.I found it to be a little ridiculous,though.....the idea that those events all happen on the same night as the original movie...lol...that would be one VERY long night, huh? lol at the end of the first movie,it seems like it's really late (after 11:00 PM or so) and yet,in the sequel,it's the same night and kids are still out trick-or-treating?! LOL

Hey it's Haddonfield, nothing else is going on. Ridiculous? Well no more than part 1 since you can't kill a human being. But I think they should pick up after part 2. Maybe they don't want to deal with Michael Myers being burnt all over. I think Halloween 2 was great. Once again if you haven't seen the TV version with the extra scenes then rent it.

Like I said earlier, just say she faked her death, not that hard. Yes those movies were pretty bad. I don't mind Laurie having a past . I really don't think it will take away anything from this movie if they did.
