Why reboots? Why can't he come up with something new? "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Whedon is more than capable of coming up with a fresh idea. My son was a huge Firefly fan and I loved the original Buffy. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Don't like the reboots such as the new Magnum PI. But I don't mind bringing back tv shows which starred the original cast such as X-Files and Roseann (those are not reboots but just the next season). Murphy Brown is coming back with most of the cast so that is not a reboot so I might check that out. But yeah Death to the Reboot

They certainly waited long enough to bring back Murphy Brown. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I never watched the show so I guess I won't be tainted. I'd give it a chance. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Since you never watched it then maybe you can enjoy it with fresh new eyes. I could enjoy this show if this was a prequel or having the story just continue on after Buffy and the gang, kinda like how Star Trek did.

If he was rebooting anything I'd rather it be Firefly. Maybe with Disney buying Fox and setting up their own streaming service, they might be tempted to revive the show. Hopefully.

No. Roswell ran for 3 seasons on the WB and UPN late 90's early 2000's. I liked the show.

Honestly I think most of the cast of Firely would like to do the show if it came back to TV.

Was that war of the worlds movie? They had a War of the Worlds tv show but that was in the late 80's.

I didn't watch much of it because it scared me. It was the late 90s, I think. Could have been early 2000s. I was young enough that it scared me too much to watch it. You got me stumped. Looking at her IMDB profile and nothing seems to fit. Are you sure it was Dakota Fanning?

Produced by Spielberg in 2002. Which means I was 12 when it was on. I feel kind of stupid now, thinking back about not being brave enough to watch it. I seen the Exorcist when I was 7. It didn't bother me. But this show creeped me out 5 years later.

oh I saw that and I thought Taken was those Liam Neeson movies

But after I made tbat statement i thought about it and remembered that a lot of these shows will be geared toward this newer generation of youngins the 12, 13,14 year olds maybe younger so these shows may not hold much interest for me anyway. The PC morality has changed, the technology has changed. Even Facebook is old to this generation I don't think I'll know what they're talking about. I 100% disagree with that statement. They wanted the 18-35 years old market. Yes younger and older people watched it but no network is aiming for a prime time show for the 12-14-year-olds market.

Maybe but the 18 to 35 yo now weren't 18 to 35 when the original was out so I believe they are still gearing it towards the newer generation per wiki it's generation Z Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Not that the original show was geared to 12 yo. I just over shot my numbers, the bigger the age gap the younger they look to me. It's the post-millennial age everything's being made for now. The interesting part about the original Buffy was that the appeal extended beyond their intended age group (I was certainly older than that lol). "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

i still don't understand why there are so many "reboots" of shows that were done well the first time around. is there no fresh material out there worthy of development?

But there are so many different venues to fill now. You got several streaming services, paid tv services, then even more specialized paid viewing services like Disney, then just regular tv. I can't even keep mental track of all the various shows on all the various services I like to watch I have to keep a written log and that just crazy keeping serious track of what used to be known as the idiot box. Reboots are considered the safer option. In most cases they've already got a built in fanbase so as far as getting the word out about the show, half the work is already done on name recognition alone. There are still original shows coming out and as long as the reboots are actually good, then I don't see any problem with them. My most anticipated show, original or reboot, is the Deadwood revival.
