Please! All smart devices with cameras and/or microphones are spying on us. If you choose to bring any of these gadgets into your home (phones, laptops, tablets, TVs, etc), assume someone is listening to and/or watching you. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

That's why I don't use Android (Google): . You can guarantee irrespective of what Google states in its terms & conditions, they violate those terms as will.
What Google and most tech companies are aware of a lot of people don't want to pay for ANYTHING and most folks only know how to power up, power down, and install whatever applications they want to use, for free. This put tech companies in a plum position to take advantage and abuse people data/privacey.. Even after the Facebook debacle people are carrying on, afraid to think critically think for 10 seconds it may cause brain damage. Most people don't read what they are giving up when the click to Google service agreement.
People who come to visit or stay with me if, they have Android devices or Mircrosft computer, can't access my ISP. They have to either stay on their data plain or bring a hotspot. Using Amazon Firestick, Alexa & Echo devices are foolish.
I pay for email services, I use a DD-WRT Router with a VPN and my HDD/SSD are encrypted. I have a firewall for the router and firewalls for the software and servers connected to my router. Like denominator I'm primary a Linux user.

I wouldn't call it a "plum position" - they're forced into it, cause users won't pay for Anything!!

My husband works in IT and he says it is increasingly noticeable how many people are covering their cameras with tape. This includes people with very little tech knowledge. Word is getting out.

There was a Panarama programme on in the UK which was particularly damning with regard Alexa, Echo and the like.

Yeah, they interviewed the woman on the news today. She said they had Alexa in every room, now she's kicked out of the house. The person Alexa sent the eavesdropped conversations to was supposedly chosen randomly, husband's co-worker. How did that happen? "if you can't clap on the one, then don't clap at all"

Alexa, Echo are computers with microphones inside them, I think Alexa has 8 mics. The Internet of things -the devices that Amazon/ Google- make are ripe for hacking and being compromised. A lot of these devices are being produce with security being an after thought.

A lot smart TV's also have camera/mics in them to. All home landline phones can be turned on to listen in your house if someone chose to. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
