It's partly because of his religion that Tom Cruise is overlooked, I think. Although he's never made a movie from a scientology story so I don't know what movie you're referring to. But just because he believes in some crazy stuff shouldn't detract from the quality of his movies or performances. After all, I wouldn't judge a Christian or Muslim actor's movies on their religion so I wouldn't judge Tom Cruise for his either.

Co-sign on both posts above. I´m not a fan but I think he is very talented, disciplined and versatile, and he rarely stars in bad movies. But his personal antics including his activities for his religious organization, distract people from the actor Tom Cruise. I wonder how much of his discipline and work ethic stems from being in Scientology. I usually enjoy watching his movies. The same goes for Michael Douglas. Maybe they just pick the right scripts. Lakeith Stanfield from "Get Out" and "Atlanta"... dude has great range, and uncanny comedic and dramatic timing, with an intense but understated presence...

I think Jeffrey Wright is still waiting for that one role to come along that will really cement him as a great actor. Hopefully Westworld will be that role.

Willem Dafoe - just for his performance in those BT adverts Joe Pesci - if only because he plays himself all the time The entire League of Gentlemen cast, the acting crew of 3 geniuses. Ally McBeal (Han Solo's wife)

Joe Pesci is possibly the most underrated actor ever. Leaving aside his great performances in Raging Bull, Goodfellas and Casino he's also shown that he's equally great in comedic roles. Home Alone will never be remembered for its performances and yet without Joe Pesci (and Daniel Stern) there's no movie there. And in the Lethal Weapon movies he plays what is essentially the opposite of the type of role he usually plays. And he does it brilliantly.

Martin Scorsese directing a movie starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Kietel. It CAN'T be as good as it sounds but it should still be worth watching.
