What about from the animated series? The Animated Series and the Arkham games, which are written by the same people, have the best portrayals of every character in the Batman universe. Their version of Poison Ivy is a cut above the live action versions for sure.

EmmaMcG said: kpowers said: A Dark Knight: A Beautiful DarknessWell it sure was a poison ivy episode Good to see Jerome again Do like Bruce's vision quest about who he is to become looks like they need each other once again Does Jim have any ex's that don't want to destroy him? I'm not really liking Poison Ivy. I'm not sure if it's the actress or the character herself. Jerome returning is a good thing but it seems like he's trying to emulate Heath Ledger more than he did before. Bruce's vision was cool but I think they missed a great opportunity to have Kevin Conroy do the Batman voice. Gordon's moustache was a nice touch. I'm torn on the Riddler/Penguin story. I think they might be pushing it a bit far. If they can avoid repeating themselves then it could be good. Jim and Barbara seem to be getting on alright considering she tried to kill him a few times in the past. I always thought she was the best, despite her dodgy wig. Overall, not a great episode. The Batman stuff was nice and it's always good to see The Penguin but I'm not a fan of Ivy at all. Im not a fan of Ivy either, I think for me it's the actress rather than the character or the storyline. I dunno, she seems just to much of a standard wholesome American girl that I can imagine in any one of a thousand different roles. I think Ivy should have flame red hair and be beautiful in a kind of 1950's poster girl sense, rather than a classic modern sense. Just my opinion. I thought this episode opened the door to a number of storylines for the rest of the season. I like Jerome, who I think captures the Clockwork Orange style likeable thug well, maybe a little too Heath Ledger but I'll forgive that. I also like the Jim/Barbara story. Were they together at the party in Bruce's vision? Overall I felt like this episode was used to set the scene for what is to come, and I'm excited about what's to come. Ivy cannot stay at the forefront for too long, can she?

I kinda liked it when they team up together

Every time they recast Ivy the new actress looks ten years older than the previous one. At this rate they'll probably end up replacing the current actress with Uma Thurman. And then we'd really have something to complain about

But when he does eventually go back, I hope he still carries a bit of resentment towards "Jimbo". I prefer them to be arguing but still respecting each other's ability to them being best buddies. I never thought I'd say this but Sofia is growing on me. Smashing Lee's hand with a hammer has that kind of effect on me. Selina continues to be a much more interesting character than Bruce Wayne. The Riddler and Penguin together again. I wonder what this means for Jerome/Joker's plan for Penguin. I still don't like Poison Ivy. I thought it was funny when Alfred refused to come back to Wayne Manor and told Bruce that he'd have to sort things out himself but then Bruce said a few kind words at the party and Alfred was more than willing to give him some friendly advice. He's a fickle man. Very susceptible to flattery. Another mixed bag of an episode. Some good bits and some bad bits. I think the show is starting to grow stale at the moment. If there is to be a season 5 they really need to seriously consider moving the timeline forward and turn the show into a "Batman Year Zero" type of thing.

I liked this episode, felt it was getting back on track from the previous episode. There was a lot going with all the other characters to keep it interesting. The scenes with Poison Ivy and Catwoman was also great. Yes I agree with you about a "Batman Year Zero" type of thing.

A Dark Knight: The Sinking Ship, The Grand ApplauseDon't like him getting his memory back What's with the headache? Martin is back He creeps me out Lots of bad guys in this episode Even the demolition man was in this episode shot 3 times shot in the head and still is alive.........nobody dies in Gotham Lee's got the taste for blood now "Next time take the deal" Bruce finally get's a cool line "I don't ever want to see this pier again" the Barbara connection??? very good episode

Mostly. I'm not a fan of Butch/Grundy getting his memory back. Unless they have specific plans for the character it seems like a bit of a waste of time. And silly even by Gotham standards. I have a feeling that Martin is going to be the real Joker. Jerome will probably end up kidnapping him to get back at Penguin and warp his little mind until Martin only answers to the name "Joker". I have no basis for saying that other than it seems like the kind of thing this show does when it thinks it's pulling a smart twist. I don't like that bald guy either. He reminds me of that guy from The Hills Have Eyes. I only just now noticed that Mr Freeze has silver hair. I don't know why I thought he was bald. Three bullets aren't going to keep Gordon down. He'll be back chasing bad guys in the next episode. Evidently, the bullets made in Gotham City aren't all that effective. Sofia, a woman barely much bigger than me, got shot straight in the forehead and is still alive. I'll admit that I couldn't help smiling when they said she was in a coma. But it wasn't a happy smile. It was more of a "why isn't that bitch dead" smile. Lee kind of scares me. I think it's the hairstyle she's got. If I left a salon with that on my head, I'd be out for blood too. Bruce was good in this episode. I love the way he beat the shit out of that guy in the pawn shop and then threw a wad of 100 dollar bills at him afterwards. More of that please. Penguin and Riddler, back together? I hope not. Now that they're not trying to kill each other it would be nice to see them go their separate ways. They're a good double act but we've seen that already. I don't know what's going on with Barbara and Ra's. Is he still alive? Is he Barbara?? It's Gotham so who knows?

I think the whole changing poison ivy actress thing just threw everything off, now she's out of the story and things have gotten better. Yeah I don't know what they are gonna do with Butch, like Grundy better. The bald guy "The Dentist" looks like a Nazi that worked at a death camp . Interesting take on Martin being Joker, possible, though that would make him younger than Batman. Hey I'm predicting some Jack the Ripper story line sine Alfred mentioned he's from White Chapel. Yes I feel the same way about Lee and her hairdo as well, freaky. Well Penguin and Riddler will always team up, then separate. I guess we will find out more about Barbara and Ra's in the next episode

A Dark Knight: One Of My Three SoupsI have this strange feeling Bullock will stab Jim in the back. He's bitter and it's Gotham Good to see Tabitha, though I wish she had a bigger role. Maybe her and Grundy would be a better story line.
Wow, love his mind control games he does. Loved him chewing the gum from under the table, classic. Uncle Zac was fun So she's the Demon head.........interesting. Liked how everybody wanted to challenge her. "You son's of bitches!!!!!" Love the out dated technology they use (Flip phones too) Liked how he try to save Joker through out this episode Bad ass through out this episode Scarecrow looked awesome

I wouldn't be surprised if Bullock was to stab Jim in the back either. I'm kind of hoping he does. The Mad Hatter was good. He should be in it more often. Jerome was very Joker-like. So much so that if it turns out that he's NOT the Joker, it's going to be very stupid. Even by Gotham standards. Barbara as The Demon's Head. I'm not too sure that's the way to go but I'll wait and see how it turns out. Bruce was better this week than usual. In fact, he's been good ever since they had him realign with Alfred and stop acting like a little prick. Selina was really good this week too. If they do decide to move the timeline forward a few years and recast some of the younger actors, I wouldn't be against a possible spin off show where it shows Selina going off to Metropolis or Bludhaven in the intervening years. Was that the same actor playing Scarecrow?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Not sure, they never showed the face of the actor who plays the Scarecrow. Catwoman spinoff, I would watch that. I agree with you that they need to forward the timeline for the show. You have all the Villians and no Batman. Same thing about Smalliville, first 5 years should have be Smallville, then the last 5 years Metropolis. By the way Tom Welling is on Lucifer. Gotham is the best DC show on the air, though the changing of Poison Ivy once again through things off for a few weeks. Love the Mad Hatter but if you over use him then his character gets stale. Love Joker in his suit, he is the Joker.

I think that's a good point regarding the overuse of certain villains on the show. You start to grow tired of seeing the same people. When a character like Mad Hatter comes on who hasn't featured for a while, it feels like a breath of fresh air. I think a good way around that would be to focus less on the Batman villains and more on the organised crime element in Gotham City. Save the Batman villains for Batman. What's the point in Bruce Wayne ever donning the cape and cowl if Jim Gordon has already dealt with all the bad guys already. And bring back Harvey Dent. He's barely featured on the show since it began.
