It looks sort of 'basic'. But that might be it's strength. Lando looks like a 70's NY pimp!

it is 45 seconds...not even a teaser. more of a promo for the full one tomorrow.

I do agree, the fur coat on Lando seems off.

I think the guy looks fine as Han. I am very excited!

In updating the style, they've kind of lost the magic of Star Wars here and instead, made it seem a bit like any new high budget sci fi movie, with perfect, dark, visuals, and overdramatic (way overdramatic) serious music cues and "clutch my pearls" chords. So much so that when they hit the familiar old theme it doesn't fit!

But that could simply be the style of the trailer, not the actual movie.

Hopefully it's fun and has that Western style wise cracking gunslinger mood of the original Han Solo!

This was a troubled production that had to shift tones (from comedy!) and lose the original directors... should be interesting.

I just like regularly having new Star Wars movies, it's what should have started happening long before now. I don't care if they're not all brilliant, so long as they're at least good. So far, for me anyway, they have been. I'm looking forward to 'Solo'.

Maybe they were someplace cold. They've gone to cold planets before and worn different styles of clothing when they did. Plus, I imagine "Young Lando" would be a pretty smooth guy. He was still a flirtatious player type when he was older (he came on to Leai immediately).

I loved seeing it. I finally just saw The Last Jedi yesterday. I saw the Solo poster on the way up the escalator, and then saw the teaser tonight (trailer out tomorrow). I'm ready!

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Rumour has it is that that guy playing Solo can't act and needed a coach for every single scene he had to do and still fucked up... But we'll see... If I find the time to download it for free I will probably watch it... Pedo Disney and their "Star Wars" is not getting anymore money from me...

Woody's character calls Han "Kid" which is a nod to how Han called Luke "Kid" (0:32)

That IS Lando 0:35

The "We're fine..." part is great... and some good views of the Falcon as it appears in this movie...
(I assume they will explain the difference... I bet they can open or close for locking onto freighters)

Looks good!

Han looks fine

Lando looks fine.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Not really, just wanted to be the first to say that. Looking forward to this.

ETA - Having now actually watched the trailer, I'm looking forward to it a little less. But still...

Now while I agree that rumors are just that - rumors, I think it could be rightfully divided.

First, let's assume that the people making these movies are certainly professional and know what they're doing. Moreover, the task of casting a character like Han Solo has a slightly younger version is no easy task. There's a look, a swagger, an ability to pick up nuances of Harrison Ford as Solo and bring them into the younger character all have to be present. For me, that sort of puts that rumor to bed. (I'd not heard it until your post - but we may never know if it's really true or not.)

Disney & Star Wars franchise are a great fit, I think. Just on the technological side of things, the literal programs LucasFilm & Pixar/Disney have written to achieve what is now pretty commonplace are astounding. Marry those together and it's a powerhouse of CGI, fX, etc.

Star Wars has never had much blood at all (a brief glimpse of a severed arm in Ep IV come to mind), and no cursing to my knowledge. If Disney aims for G-rated or PG-rated content sometimes, then Star Wars is a safe bet.

They are also both big money makers. Disney & Pixar have a string of hit animation and live action films. Star Wars certainly stands on its own, despite Lucas taking a shit on it for Ep 1-3. The one thing I enjoyed so much about Ep 7 is that it felt and looked like a Star Wars film again. Lucas had a serious boner for a blue screen in Ep 1-3, and it left the whole movie and interaction between characters and their surroundings very, very flat and dull. Lifeless almost. While there is blue screen in these newer films, there is certainly enough live action and real sets to balance it. It felt organic again. That is a winning choice on Disney & Lucasfilm's part. Ep 7 and Rogue One did well not because they were simply new Star Wars films. They did well because it was a good story, and it looked good, it was shot well, and it had all the trappings we expect and love in a Star Wars film.

And while I respect your opinion w/ the "pedo Disney" comment, if we truly boycotted every movie company, producer, record company, franchise, etc that was at least accused of wrong-doing, we'd be flipping through cookbooks and old Reader's Digests. I do not wish to excuse the accusers or dismiss them. I suppose it's a "choose your battle" situation. Whatever works for you is what you should do, whether it's a movie or otherwise.

Back to Solo quickly - I hope for all our sakes that the rumor you noted is incorrect. I hope that someone auditioned this guy front to back before putting him on screen. Hell, even after a few scenes, they could have fired him and reshot what they did w/ a new actor and kept it going. I suppose May will tell us one way or the other.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The fact that he is featured so little in the trailer should tell you something. Those scenes are probably the best they've got. They should've had the actor study this scene over and over. That's the key to Han Solo's charm.

This Lando fan film looks better than Solo. lol They manage to capture the Star Wars tone, Han, Lando and mix it with 70s black exploitation films.

Cheese and rice, Memorial Day?

After that last movie (a month and a half ago), I'm lowering my geekdom and just enjoying it for what it is, entertainment.

Never really got into the comic book movies but this series will keep me if they don't screw it up.

The rumor has been going around even before Lord And Miller were fired and Howard took over...
Disney apparently didn't like the guy's portrayal of Han Solo, and judging from the teaser I agree... The teaser doesn't show the guy acting anywhere remotely like Han Solo in the bits he's in, he just looks like some random extra with lines...

Disney & Star Wars franchise are a great fit, I think. Just on the technological side of things, the literal programs LucasFilm & Pixar/Disney have written to achieve what is now pretty commonplace are astounding. Marry those together and it's a powerhouse of CGI, fX, etc.

Disney is not needed for that as any company would and could do...
Disney just meddles with "Star Wars" of which they, obviously, don't know or care anything about other than making big expensive toy commercials...

They are also both big money makers. Disney & Pixar have a string of hit animation and live action films. Star Wars certainly stands on its own, despite Lucas taking a shit on it for Ep 1-3. Disney has no hand in Pixar and Pixar is smart enough to keep them away from their animations... Disney has as much influence on Pixar movies as they have on Studio Ghibli movies in the US: exactly 0%...

I'll take Episodes 2 and 3 any time over Episode 8 and that "Rogue One" garbage that had a shit story, looked like shit with al the reshoots and all, didn't even feel like a "Star Wars" movie and was boring as fuck with no memorable or even likeable characters... They only did well because of the "Star Wars" tag...

I didn't say anything about boycotting shit or fighting Disney, fuck them... I just don't give money to things I don't support; Disney's "Star Wars" is this case... Big difference...
Nobody cares about Disney's dubious past (their Nazi affiliation for example) and everybody still loves them and will keep on loving them and willingly give them their money and I will keep calling them what they are...

I think the kid has the "look", but he sounds NOTHING like Captain Solo. disbelief I like what I saw in the trailers...a "new" Millenium Falcon (so WHITE!)?, Lando looks awesome...and I was totally unaware that Khaleesi is in this movie! I'll be there on opening night, hopefully they dont disappoint...

Make it so, Number One...

Don´t know if it´s true or hyperbole but I read that they had to reshoot almost 80% of the movie and that they had to hire a dialog coach for the main actor (what Neversin said above) because his acting supposedly sucked....which is hard to believe considering that it is not his first acting job and dude works in theaters, too.

He does not remind me of Harrison Ford´s Han Solo at all but I have to see more to be able to make a judgment.

.

My expectations are very low after reading all those negative news, so I was actually pleasantly surprised by this mini -trailer but I agree with you when it comes to the "new" feel and look of this movie. They should have tried to re-create the look and style of Star Wars (ANH) for this one since it takes place before the events in Star Wars (ANH)and after the prequels.

I can't really judge it based on how little is there, but i will say that the music on this trailer is so so so bad. This is the first time i have ever noticed how bad the music on a trailer is. Just trash.
