We've got Flat-Earthers coming out of the woodwork today, claiming that the total eclipse proves we live on a flat Earth. But I believe all flat Earth arguments were clearly handled and defeated on the following thread. All I can say in conclusion is:

Evidence for a flat earth?

It is often possible to see the Chicago skyline from sea-level 60 miles away across Lake Michigan. In 2015 after photographer Joshua Nowicki photographed this phenomenon several news channels quickly claimed his picture to be a “superior mirage,” an atmospheric anomaly caused by temperature inversion. While these certainly do occur, the skyline in question was facing right-side up and clearly seen unlike a hazy illusory mirage, and on a ball-Earth 25,000 miles in circumference should be 2,400 feet below the horizon.

There are some regular orgers who I would not be surprised believed in a flat earth theory.

Technically, I belive this eclipse is a full moon event. Although, you could call it a reverse full moon. But the moon still looks full to me.

It's common sense. People are afraid to stand up and say the Earth is flat or believe it is because they think the scientists know more than them and they don't want to appear stupid. Plus, it's been drilled in your head since birth. But, the Earth is flat. Research it and then see how you feel.

Absolutely. The horizon always rises to meet eye level, which is impossible on a ball earth. Also, there is no visible curvature to the horizon even from airplanes. Also, what proof do you have that the Earth is a ball? None. Only what you've been told. Like Judge Judy says, "If it doesn't make sense, it isn't true," and all this bs about the ball Earth is not true. I'm not terribly religious but, it is like the Bible states. The Earth is immovable and there is a firmament over it. A rainbow is the reflection of the firmament. There are so many more proofs but, I will readily admit I am not smart enough to spout them off to you without looking them up. But I am smart enough to believe what I see and feel. (or don't feel) . Now you go...

I have personal friends that are astronauts. They have been in outer space. One of them just spent six months on the International Space Station.

On the ISS, they orbit the Earth several times a day. They have seen the Earth from every possible angle, thousands of times.

I've been a personal guest of two astronauts at their space shuttle launches. I watched them go deep into orbit with my own eyes.

If you really think the world is flat, I have to tell you: I know for a dead-solid fact that you are wrong.

Why? Because your friend told you so? Please ask your astronaut friend to take a photo of the EArth from outer space- one that has not been photoshopped like NASA's. Or better yet! A video! We don't have one of those- why not? I also have seen space shuttle launches (as a child living in Florida) and the motherfucker went sideways! I was only 9 but still, I said to myself, "Why is that motherfucker going sideways?!"

I was actually hired to photoshop the color and contrast of photos taken by astronauts on the space shuttle and ISS back in 1998 (I'm originally from Houston and also had three friends working at mission control at different times). I was privy to the original negatives, and was adjusting for the purpose of a coffeetable book they were going to publish. So the arguement about NASA faking pictures is invalid to me.

If the Earth is flat, then how come as you travel by plane you can either follow or lose the sun over the horizon and you can make a phone call to people who are still seeing the sun?

By the same token, do you think the sun and moon are flat? Do you think stars are really small and different from the sun?

Just curious. Do you also think that it is illogical that TV's can broadcast image and sound invisibly, or 747's can fly with all thousands of pounds of metal and the people?

I'm guessing you think the moon missions were faked? And that there are no satellites that orbit and convey cell phones and broadcasts.

Why hide God? To make us feel insignificant- to trust NASA, our government , to keep us under their control. ----- The Sun and the Moon revolve around us- the Earth does not move. Very simple - I don't know why people get upset about that. You stand on a still Earth - you feel no movement and you see the sun and moon moving with your very eyes and yet, I'm crazy? As for moon missions - yes, faked. You cannot get through the Van Allen belts. Sorry. You would turn to toast. --- satellites- sure. But they're not out in space- they would have to be within the firmament. Okay--- like I said, I am not the Flat Earth go-to person, but this is what I think and this is my argument. No. Not at all. I believe in a Creator. I do not think this is some cosmic coincidence and I think that what the Bible says about the EArth is the truth but I am no religious zealot.

We live on a plane not a planet. We basically live in a snow globe. There is water above and water below. There is water beneath the ocean. You cannot get to it. There are videos on that on Youtube as well that explain it. The sun and moon follow a circular path. Like I said, I cannot answer everyone's flat earth answers. I do not pretend to know all the answers but this is really not so far fetched and makes much more sense than all this other craziness.
