You are the norm, not the exception, when it comes to young 'un's. All the young people here in the USA watch their phones or computers because they're usually watching NetFlix or some other streaming service.

Yes, that's true in India too, more so as time goes on.

If I wanted to show off I wouldn't stop at how many televisions I own. It's hardly seen as a sign of wealth anyway. Even when I was younger and had no money there were always two or three TVs in the house. They're not extravagant purchases.

I haven't owned a TV in over 4 years. And the only times I've watched TV(within that time period) is when I've stayed at Hotels. And thats been maybe 4 1/2 months, total.

So - do yall think that now that the heyday of TV is over, it'll shift to Youtube? The pay services like Hotstar and Amazon Prime (in the US) are there, too, but YT is the only one that's free! .....and what implications does this have for the media lansdscape, like I said? Imagine, if Prince was alive today, and did another movie - and released it ON YOUTUBE!! What do you guys think??

You're not alone Tv in the UK is total rubbish to me ain't watched it for years. Stopped watching it when it started to be all that reality and so called celebrity nonsense. Use my tv only for dvds

Same in the UK , i think they are watching them crossing the roads too. More things to look out for when driving on the roads here they seem oblivious to the traffic and obvious dangers.

If you have a sky subscription you could get that on demand thing I was talking about above. I caught up with all the Twin Peaks episodes on it recently before the new season started on sky Atlantic. Alternatively, you could just download the shows and movies you're interested in illegally for free. That's always a good option

I do love The Walking Dead and loved Westworld watched them on my laptop cough , cough Line of Duty and Luther are great too

Yeah - so, TV shows won't go away, you'll just see them On-Demand, on some service. The pricing on these things is funny though, isn't it, cause you pay so much a month, regardless of how much you watch! - I find this concept quite strange, I'm not really sure whether I'm down with it.

...and I don't know about Youtube - I don't know, but there is a possibility that market economics will determine that you WILL get good stuff for free! - if Movie Maker A gives away something for negligible cost, then Movie Maker B, to compete with him/her, HAS to undercut.....right? ie. give it away for Zero?
How much Movie Makers can sustain this kind of thing, remains to be seen.

That's why I don't think we're likely to see much worthwhile free content on the likes of Youtube and other free services. You raise an interesting idea though when you mentioned people paying set costs for TV subscriptions, whether they use them or not. Maybe something like a service whereby you pay for what you use would be the best way to go. Sky are doing something similar with their sports channels next week. Instead of paying for sky sports 1, 2, 3 etc they are offering Sky sports football, sky sports cricket, formula 1, golf etc. So if you only want to watch football for example, that's the only channel you need pay for. It's a good idea and I'll definitely be taking advantage of it and cancelling the golf, cricket, rugby and formula 1 channels. Maybe they'll do something similar with their non sports channels if it proves a success.

Well, by movies, I meant including movie shorts, and by free I meant - with an ad before (or in the middle) of it! (not actually Free!! ) Out here, this is news:

There ARE, plenty of good TV shows at least, on Youtube - can't say I know anything about movies. I'm just waiting and watching on the sidelines, to see what happens.
