Assault On Precinct 13... Damn!!! That's probably one of john Carpenter's best work... I just watched the new special DVD edition and well it is so well filmed and the mood so well settled... No one else has his way of setting moods...
The editing is also so professionnally and cleverly done... Who digs this flick besides me? "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

That's probably one of john Carpenter's best work Well maybe in my Carpenter's top5 with
- Prince Of Darkness or The Thing - In The Mouth Of Madness - Vampires it's one of the rare movies, maybe the only one I know, in which a child is intentionnaly killed.

Of course it has!!! If somebody tells you the contrary well... he's either jealous or not into movies!!! I really dig The Fog especially the "boy scout" thing at the beginning... Very effective. My favorite is In The Mouth Of Madness... and also a special mention for Big Trouble, Ghosts Of Mars and well the rest of his films... Dark Star is the ultimate hilarious peacenik joint!!! Damn man...all I can say 2 that is old skool 2 the max...& 4 its time very hardcore. As kids...something about that part with the girl getting ice cream from the truck...
This is a flick I don't even see replayed on cable...maybe it has I don't know. But sorry 2 say that movie wouldn't have the same impact today in 2003 as it did then. We have surpassed that hardcore violence these dayz...and with the graphic thats seen and heard in music movies & in video games etc...most kids now would not feel what I or many others did. Its much more normal cuz its seen 4 some on a regular basis as they live in a concrete jungle of sorts. kinda sad, but these are the sign Of our times*

That was the last time Carpenter put a kid in danger in his movies... for good reason, too. We discussed this in class, though, and the act was needed so Street Thunder could be designated as 'evil' (much like Michael Myers in Halloween). Before this point, they were kind of on the fence; the opening scene, where the cops are gunning down a bunch of people who look like kids with the voiceover, sets this tone. It looks like they are victims. We needed Kathy to be killed in order to say okay, they are the bad guys. I mean, like, where is the sun?
