Nintendo Switch!! 4 A.M. Irish time I dragged myself out of bed to watch the live presentation of the new games console from Nintendo, named Nintendo Switch. It's the first time I've ever actually looked forward to a new games console. Over the last few years I've really gotten into gaming, first through my brothers discarded Xbox 360, then my ex's 3DS (which I borrowed but never gave back) and later, the Wii U, Xbox One and PS4 (with Playstation VR). But it's only now, with the Nintendo Switch, that I'm actually excited enough to buy a games console on day one.
Which brings me back to the presentation this morning. I'm not one for technical stuff so I'm not interested in terraflops and whatnot, I'm more interested in the fun I can have with the console. So, when I see a new Nintendo console that is both a home console and a portable in one, that I can play Mario Kart, Zelda, Lego City, Splatoon 2 and Skyrim on, then I know I'm about to part with a hefty chunk of cash. But in doing so, I'll guarantee myself hours of fun with my daughter, cousin/housemate and all my friends for a long time to come. What did the gamers of the org make of the Nintendo Switch? PS. Anyone thinks they are a match for me in Mario Kart better think again. I'm laying down the challenge here and now. Accept it at your peril. Now I'm off to get some coffee and toothpicks for my eyelids to keep my eyes open.  [Edited 1/13/17 2:38am] | |

$299! I can afford that. Zelda and Super Mario Odyssey look amazing. Hope there are new courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe cause if it only adds battle mode I won't get much new out of it. I wish Mario Kart 8 Deluxe wouldn't make it so easy to get three stars on every course like in the Wii U version. You fall off or crash into the wall more than once you don't get the 3 star rating. The 3ds version was perfect for that and it really felt like an accomplishment when you got 3 stars on Special cup in 150 and Mirror. Shaving and showering are going to feel like such a chore when I want to spend all my free time playing Nintendo. | |

I nearly did it but some absolute bastard, it may have been Yoshi, hit me with a green shell right near the finish line of Mute City. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a blue shell or even a red shell. The fact it was a green one meant that he had to aim it and line it up just right. I went from first to fifth in the blink of an eye. Haven't turned the Wii U on since... I don't think there are any new courses in the Deluxe version that wasn't already DLC in the original but I wouldn't be surprised to see more tracks added through DLC in the future. And I'm just the kind of sap to buy them! Don't know how much the system is going to be here in Ireland. I'm guessing it will be around the 300 mark but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a little bit more. | |

Zelda as a launch game guarantees that I'll be buying the Switch on day one. I've only played Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask and about half of Wind Waker but they are probably 3 of the best games I've ever played. There's some other cool things coming out too. That Lego City port is a must for me too. Easily my favourite Lego game. The writing is like something straight out of Police Squad. Sonic Mania looks really good too. It reminds me of the old Mega Drive games my brother had. I didn't get into Splatoon on the Wii U but I'll definitely give the new one a go too. | |

But it took hundreds of tries on MK7 for 3ds on Special Cup because everytime I raced perfectly lightning would hit me in midair and I got picked up by Lakitu.Hudson said:
No, they confirmed it yesterday that Zelda is a launch game. 3rd March. Can't wait! It's probably the only launch game I'm interested in but my brother was telling me they're adding gamecube games to the virtual console so if that's true, I'll get to play a lot of games I missed out on like Mario Sunshine and Luigis Mansion. | |

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Rime look like my kinds of games too and Steep might be fun. My cousin is interested in Just Dance and 1 2 Switch so I'll play those with her and hopefully we'll split the cost of the console  | |

Unfortunately it's sales weren't great so you can kind of understand why they'd be apprehensive about putting loads of money into a new one. I think the important thing is trying to make sure people buy the Switch. That's why they're releasing Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart all in its first year. They're the biggest selling games Nintendo have. They'll probably do a Pokemon and Smash Bros too. If people buy into it, then I'd say you'll see the likes of Kid Icarus and Metroid and F Zero etc. | |
