Cutting your hair After 7 years I cut my (dread)locks the other day; I desperately needed a change. Now, my hair's short and I have no regrets. (Hey, if Lenny and India Arie could do it... )
So basically, how do you feel about cutting your hair? Do you prefer it long or short? And why?

I'm glad you like it!
I have long hair, but, I've been toying with the idea of getting my hair cut shorter. I have a hair appointment in two weeks for cut and color and I'm going through magazines searching for something different. This is sort of what I've been looking at: . I've had my hair in lengths ranging from very short, to very long. All in all, it seems that longer hair works best for me because I don't have to do anything to it - except that it takes hours for it to air-dry.

Do you fel liberated etc? Refreshed? I do each time I cut mine. Especilly after the eighties (Hey, if Lenny and India Arie could do it... )

The longest my hair has ever been is chin length...although its usually much shorter than that. I look like with longer hair. That and growing long hair does not allow for me to change the style and/or color every 2 weeks like i'm used to.

eye tried to grow my hair long once when eye was 12. It was all good until this clerk called me a lady. That pissed me off so eye got a hair cut. Ever since eye wore my hair short. Its easier to style and it dosnt take as long

I just put my dreadlocks in. I don't like the way I look with short hair; it makes me feel un-feminine. Part of the reason I wanted dreads was because my long hair was driving me nuts; it tangled terribly, and took too much work every morning to make it look decent. The dreads are still gonna need a lot of care for awhile, but this way I can do maintinence when I feel like it instead of in the morning when I'm rushed.
In any case, I hope it will be awhile before I'm in your position, but glad to hear you're enjoying the change.

They are still in Newbie Dread Stage, so I guess by any objective standard they are a little crazy, but I luv 'em. And I threw away my Daily Torture Device (ie. hairbrush). Yeay! My camera is out of town with my husband, but when it comes back I'll post a pic.

rdhull said: Do you fel liberated etc? Refreshed? I feel great! On Saturday when I decided to do it I just could NOT imagine washing my hair with the locks still intact. I can't explain it. BUT the hair needed washing so, I took a scissor and cut them off one lock at a time. Not once did I think, "OMG! What have I done???!" When I got in the shower and began washing my hair it was so AWESOME to feel my entire hand, palms, fingertips...cleansing my head. I hadn't felt that in so long. A few weeks ago a friend and I were discussing hair, her's is long and very straight. She was considering a short cut. We both agreed that there's something very bold, even empowering about a woman with short hair. There's a degree of confidence knowing that you're not afraid to go against the grain and knowing that you can still feel attractive, and feminine with a short 'do. Must admit that when a guy said: "Excuse me Miss" instead of sir, it was a relief. And today, this guy said: "You cut your hair. It looks beautiful!" Well, that really made my day. For anyone who gives me that cockeyed, "Why'd you do such a stupid thing look" when I return to work tomorrow I think I'll freak them out even more and say, "I lost a bet!"
