We are posting with a guy who just met Bruce Springsteen. So by extension, we are brushing the greatness that was just brushed!

I once had lunch one table away from Edward Burns.
So I didn't actually "meet" him, but he was talking so loud that I felt as part of his conversation...so...

In March I shook hands with WWE wrestler Mark Henry.

I imagined him being much bigger. shrug

Coincidentally, Burns is a HUGE Springsteen fan. I just read his book (Independent Ed) a few months ago!

Did you overhear anything interesting?

French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier was standing right behind me with Naomi Campbell during a Prince concert (the MTV Music Awards "aftershow" at the Tränenpalast in Berlin). I think Aerosmith and George Michael were also there. Pretty sure about George Michael but not so sure about Aerosmith.

I recognized Prince in a Mercedes Benz earlier that day, somewhere close to his hotel. It was a coincidence, we ran to his car to ask him where the show would be but his reaction was..well, a bit strange...I guess we scared him a bit. wink

Saw him a couple of times before shows, very close, because we sneaked into a venue by accident and just stayed inside, pretending to be part of the venue staff, and the real staff was ok with it so we just stayed. Also talked a bit with Manuela Testolini while Prince was standing right next to her. I asked her about the Beautiful Strange concert DVD while Prince was checking out the merch table.

He was wearing a gray, striped coat and was pretty cool.

Also was very close to him at Paisley Park but that does not really count.

.

A friend of mine knows Dr.J and Michael Jordan. He´s also friends with Trey Parker´s dad, Trey Parker Sr. He´s also got a few pictures with Lebron James but I don´t know how well they really know each other.

-

.

Green Day crashed at a friend´s house many, many years ago....and played a concert in his kitchen in our hometown. This was before they were famous. Years later they still recognized him at a festival . wink

.

I´ve met director Fatih Akin before he became famous, we had a nice chat and he gave me a soundtrack CD of his first hit movie.

.

.

Ufoclub is my Facebook friend and one of my all time favorite orgers. He´s great ! lol And one day he´ll be very famous. Mark my words. wink

-

.

I had the pleasure of driving a famous Turkish-German actor to central station when he visited a film festival here.

.

Years ago I spent a very long and very enjoyable day with Morris Hayes because of a mutual friend. Morris is one of the nicest, kindest, most humble and most talkative, most interesting people I´ve ever had the pleasure to meet. We got along so great, it was unbelievable and we are still in touch every now and then. A wonderful human being.

.

I´ve talked to rap legend Kurtis Blow after a concert and criticized him for lipsynching to a Melle Mel vinyl record during a supposedly "live" show. He was in town with Grandmaster Flash and the Sugarhill Gang.

.

I have met Ice-T after a show in Hamburg.

.

I´ve been pretty close to IceCube but there were so many people around us that I preferred having a drink and a chat with his son (not Doughboy but OMG).

.

I´ve met rap legend and true MC , the one and only Masta Ace several times. Such a great rapper and very humble, down to earth person. I always make sure to check out his show whenever he´s here.

.

I´ve met Yaasin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def. Had a brief chat, took some pictures.

.

I´ve met London underground rap legends Hijack in their prime, ca. 1991, and again in 1992.

.

Met and spoke with Prince Ken Swift from the Rock Steady Crew by coincidence, in St.Paul Minnesota, of all places. Years later he coincidentally met my brother and spoke with him. My brother told him about my encounter with him in St.Paul. wink

..

Saw Sheila E. and Eric Leeds after a show in Hamburg in 1994, talked a bit about unreleased albums and Prince . Years later, I met Eric again at Paisley Park in 2002 and he remembered the show in 1994 and we talked about the arrangements, and he told me that those were Renato Neto´s arrangements. I hadn´t noticed Renato in 94 because he had long hair and I didn´t know him back then. Renato was also present this time, and the conversation took place during the 2002 celebration at Paisley Park.

.

Had some back and forth writing with Maxwell on his Facebook page but nothing major...just a little misunderstanding. lol

-

Also exchanged a few messages with Philly rapper Schooly D and asked him why he dissed Prince so hard on his record "I don´t like RocknRoll" but praised the Dirty Mind album on his Facebook page, and Schooly D explained the whole situation to me and how he and Prince got closer after that, and that he even performed at his clubs and that all beef between Prince and rappers was already squashed.

.

There are probably a couple more but these are the one I remember off the top of my head. I´ve also met those two rappers that worked with Prince during the 1995-96 years but that was because we had mutual friends, not because of a Prince connection.

To be honest, I met almost all those people by accident or coincidence, or because of mutual friends.

To me, they are just regular people, I´m not a starstruck kind of person , probably because I´ve had the opportunity to see behind the curtain. It ´s a bit like the Wizard of Oz.

.

And yes, Ufoclub is still here and still posts regularly, much to my delight. And he is quite successful these days, so I am very happy for him.

Dannii Minogue
Cheryl Cole
Louis Walsh
Lily Allen
Paloma Faith

There are 2 others who I won't name because I'm still good friends with them. Neither are particularly well known outside of UK or Ireland though so don't get too excited smile

It was in 2011 my boyfriend at the time got us tickets to the NPG Music and Arts Festival in Denmark. I wasn't a particularly big Prince fan at the time but he's a huge fan. They must have been some sort of VIP tickets. I don't know the exact details but whatever they were, we got to go to some post show meet and greet. I didn't know who anyone was but I remember Andy Allo was there. I didn't know who she was at the time though. I'm sure the band was there too but I didn't know them at the time so I didn't take note of who they were. Shelby was DEFINITELY there though. Anyway, after a while. Prince materialises with this Latino looking woman and speaks to a few of us. My boyfriend got a major case of starstruck and could barely remember his own name. Prince asked what I did, I told him I was a singer. He asked was I any good, I stupidly replied "I think so, I've been on the x factor". He turned to his female friend and asked what that was, she said a it was a talent show. I'm sure he was taking the piss out of me because he was grinning from ear to ear when he did it. Then he said good luck and moved on. All in all the "meeting" lasted about 30 seconds.

I've met several celebrities, mostly at concerts and ballgames. Ron Wood, Slash, Steven Adler, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen King, Woody Harrelson, Larry David and a bunch of all-time great baseball players. The two most memorable experiences were sitting next to Geddy Lee, and sitting next to Ron Howard. I was able to get Ron to sign my baseball, couldn't get over how he still looked like Richie Cunningham while wearing a hat that covered the balding top of his head. lol
