Any good stories to share about meeting celebrities?

I ask 'cause I met MOTHER-FRIGGIN' BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN last week!!!!!!!

faint

P.S. I miss Imago. sad Anybody still in touch with him?

I've met several celebrities, mostly at concerts and ballgames. Ron Wood, Slash, Steven Adler, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen King, Woody Harrelson, Larry David and a bunch of all-time great baseball players. The two most memorable experiences were sitting next to Geddy Lee, and sitting next to Ron Howard. I was able to get Ron to sign my baseball, couldn't get over how he still looked like Richie Cunningham while wearing a hat that covered the balding top of his head. lol

You must live in L.A., no?

Nope, most of them were in NYC, Boston and Toronto.

Toronto is a popular city for filming movies, that's where I met both Ron Howard and Geddy Lee.

Cleveland is where I met a bunch of the musicians, at the Rock Hall induction ceremony.

Damn, I know we talked years ago but I don't remember you mentioning that! lol

So you probably know Geddy is (or at least was) a Jays season ticketholder, right behind homeplate. That's where I sat next to him.

I don't live there, but I visit often as I have family in Woodbridge. In fact I was there just a couple weeks ago.

Other than some stuff I need to keep private, probably my biggest brush with greatness was meeting John Wayne when I was a little kid.

Many of my brushes with fame were at meet and greets where celebrities were being paid to interact with fans so in my mind, those don't really count.

I've posted this photo here many times before of me and Mel B/Scary Spice (her makeup scrubbed off clean) after one of her Broadway Rent performances in 2004.

After taking the photo, I reminded her that we also met a few years earlier in the basement of the nightclub, Nell's and her reply was, "What?" neutral lol

It was also notable because after my friend purchased our Rent tickets, Prince announced an intimate concert at Webster Hall which I missed because it was scheduled on the same night. confused

Nice! Was "Melvin B." (as Stern calls her lol) friendly?

And who'd you meet at meet-and-greets?

Mel B was very friendly the both times I met her. After taking photos with all the fans waiting for her outside the theatre, she and her friend just simply walked down the block and around the corner. I was expecting a limo or something to pick her up. lol

The most memorable meet and greets were Siouxsie and Budgie from the Banshees before one of their Creatures shows back in 1999 I think and Tori Amos not too long after that. I gave Siouxsie a Maleficent figurine and she said she had just watched that movie (Sleeping Beauty obviously) on the telly in the hotel room the other night. :swoon: Meeting Tori Amos, I most remember her face surprisingly having lots of wrinkles. Something she was clearly very conscious of by the amount of plastic surgery she's had since then.

I've never been big on Rush either, it was kind of awkward sitting next to him and hiding the fact I couldn't think of even one of his songs at the time. lol

I'm in South Florida now.

He was filming a movie in Dallas and my dad somehow arranged for my brother and I to meet him. I just remember shaking his hand, and that he smiled a lot.

Whenever I go to shows alone, I tend to linger after to make a fool of myself meeting the band, so I've met a lot of semi-famous, but majorly talented people.

Most recently, Questlove talked to me and offered to help me off the floor at the side wall in First Ave. during one of the Revolution shows boxed . He offered to get me water too. I wasn't drunk, just was having a moment.

I've had a few "moments" like that too. Only it's normally an ambulance guy there to help me up, not Questlove. wink

I get around.

Funny story, but I wasn't laughing back then. I was within six feet of meeting Obama at a rally when some crazed African guy started jumping and screaming like a 13 year old girl at a Bieber concert as he approached us. I was in front and the idiot damn near climbed on my back and almost pushed me over the rope.

Anyways, when the secret service saw how he was acting the quickly turned Obama in the other direction and none of us got to shake his hand or say hello.

Needless to say, I cussed that SOB to within an inch of his life. lol

This was back in '78 when she was headlining the touring company of the musical Timbuktu. I was a teenager and went the show with my mom, who was a huge fan. Ms. Kitt was kind enough to sign autographs after the show, so we waited to say hello and get our programmes signed. Oddly enough, there were less than a dozen of us.

She was the tiniest, most exquisite lady I have ever seen, and she was holding a tiny dog. lol

The show was spectacular, of course. This was the seventies so the video quality isn't great.
