Hey EmmaMcG, have you had a chance to check out the last season of the Super Friends yet? I honestly feel the last season is over looked alot. Yes it is a Saturday morining cartoon however Galactic Guardians was a lot more mature and darker than the previous seasons of the Super Friends. The creators of the Super Friends knew that the kids watching the Super Friends in the 70's are now in High School by the time Super Powers Team Galactic Guardians came out in 1985. This Series had a lot of first to it- The first time Cyborg is featured on a cartoon. IMO Cyborg appearance helped his popularity and is why he is a member of the Justice league today. The episode "The Fear" IMO is a ground breaking episode for a Saturday morning cartoon. The first time ever we see the murder of the Waynes. You don't have people murder on a Saturday morning cartoon. Way before Dooms Day the Superfriends were the first to do the Death of Superman, different story but still an interesting episode. This would be the last episode of the super friends series. Only bad thing about the Galactic Guardians is that there are only 10 episodes Now if you enjoy Galactic Guardians then I recommend the season before called - Superfriends The Legendary Super Powers Show (1984). This show is also a little more mature and action packed then previous season and also has a lot of firsts First time ever we see Dark Seid in a cartoon and who ever did the voice, they were the best. Loved the side story of Dark Seid trying to make Wonder Woman his bride. First time we see Fire Storm in a cartoon.
Well if you enjoy those 2 seasons then I recommend Challenge of the Superfriends (1978). Creators of the show push the envelope of this season because it was viewed to violent (by the standards of that time). They even had an episode in which it is believed the Legion of Doom killed the Super Friends (a big no no for saturday morning cartoons) so only one seaon of the Legion of Doom because the creators of the series had to tone it down. I know DC fans would love to see a live version of this.
and justice league had their own take on the legion of doom

I tried to download Super Friends a few months ago but it had no seeders and it was taking ages so I never got to finish the download. Then I got sidetracked watching Deadwood and the X Files but it's definitely on my list.

The chances of a cross over with the CW shows is highly unlikely mostly because these are two different networks/studios. So with that said if they ever did a crossover here are some scenarios. Well clearly Gotham is set in the past compared to the CW shows since Bruce Wayne is a teenage kid. Flash and Supergirl can both break the time barrier and end up in Gotham. Legends of Tomorrow can also travel back in time. Arrow - maybe guest star Constantine ends up opening some time portal.

[Edited 10/16/16 21:15pm] If Batman is never mentioned in the CW shows then Gotham isn't necessarily set in the past. Any potential crossover could just feature Batman as the youngest member of the team. It's not like they haven't altered origin stories before. IF there was a crossover episode, seeing the likes of Arrow and Superman up close could be the thing that gives Bruce Wayne the idea to become Batman.

But that doesn't mean that Gotham is necessarily set in the same time line as the other CW shows. They did mentioned Gotham in Supergirl season 2 opener. But they did not mention Batman, nor Wonder Woman and a whole bunch of other DC characters yet.

If they've mentioned Gotham city in Supergirl but they've yet to reference Batman, does that not lend my theory some credibility? Maybe they haven't mentioned him because he's not Batman yet? I don't like the idea of Batman being a rookie when it comes to forming the Justice League but if there is to be a crossover, it's the most logical way of doing it. Sure, it goes against the source material but that's Gotham in a nutshell. Other shows have done similar things in the past too so there is a precedent for it. Just look at Smallville. Of course, I doubt any crossover will happen but it's a fun "What if" scenario.

I can claim the same thing. There could be grown up Batman at this time. Batman was on his own for a long time before joining the JLA. No mention of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Cyborg yet.

I'd prefer it to be an adult Batman, but if a crossover does happen, I'd fear my theory could be what they'll do. If for no other reason, Gotham doesn't seem to be set in the past. They have modern technology on the show so unless the CW shows are set in the future, Bruce Wayne is a kid at the same time the Flash and the Green Arrow are doing their thing.

Well they don't mention when it is set in. It seems they kinda fuse modern stuff and old stuff together. I could be wrong but I don't ever remember seeing them using lap tops. The mob stuff feels so 1930's to me. Butch and Edward Nygma seems like they are from another time period. Arkham looks from the past with prison and nurses uniforms. The police station all the desk are using type writers. I see one very old looking computer on the desk and that is it. They don't mention anything of todays pop culture like the CW shows do

[Edited 10/27/16 15:29pm] I don't remember much computer usage, maybe Lucius Fox had one, but I'm almost positive I've seen Gordon and other characters on the show using modern looking mobile phones.

But if it was set in 2016 you would see it everywhere. They do but down play it alot. They are going for that old look.

[Edited 10/27/16 15:45pm] I must say, I love the overall tone of the show. As a fan, there are things I would do differently, like not having a gay Penguin for a start. But I like how Gotham is its own entity. I actually don't want to see any crossover with the CW shows. I'd like characters like Oliver Queen or the Kents to appear at some point but not the versions of them that appear in other shows.

Yes I agree with that | |

I think if they could get away with not using cell phones they would but for story telling it is alot easier for them to bust out a phone and talk to another character to further the story. They also did the same thing for tv shows from the 70's and 80's (way before cell phones). Cops shows like Hawaii 5-0, Kojak would use car phones. I grew up during that time, I never saw any car with a phone in it. [Edited 10/27/16 16:08pm]
