A friend of mine loved I Am Love (have not seen it, myself).

She was certainly 'a snake'. But him? While he was obnoxious, I didn't leave the theater feeling he (ultimately) came off any worse than the other three.

Likening Harry and his daughter to snakes in the garden of Eden is the director's metaphor, not mine of course. Although I'm sure they both must have been seen as snakes by Marianne and Paul who were having the perfect holiday until the others arrived and everything went tits up.

Or, for that matter, you might not want to read this Second Review of "Next" before you watch it for the first time or you'll spend valuable time agonizing over all the dumb stuff Moore's character does. I probably should have said that at the beginning of this post. Sorry, my bad.

That's not just in Mexico, that's everywhere--because it doesn't follow the modern horror movie template. It's slower and more psychological like horror movies of the 60s and 70s. It's not surprising that it it isn't liked by many people.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) - The adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka between the first and second World Wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

What a cast. Possibly the most meticulously art-directed movie I've ever seen--and my favorite of 2014. 5/5

It was made in less-politically-correct times, so I'm wondering if anybody out there is offended by any of the content.

Liked Joey Adams in the movie. All the men in the movie are irritating.

The Rocketeer (1991) - A young pilot stumbles onto a prototype jetpack that allows him to become a high flying masked hero.

I'm surprised this movie isn't better reviewed. I thought it was very good-natured and a lot of fun. I can see why Marvel asked director Joe Johnston to helm the similarly-styled Captain America: The First Avenger. 4/5

yay. i cannot wait to see this. i live in something of a backwater, but i'm hoping it makes it to one of our arthouse-y cinemas sooner rather than later.

x-men apocalypse - not a complete dud imo, but it did seem muddled and meandering & it ended up as a let-down after the previous two x-films, which I liked quite a bit. 3/5.

The Visit (2015) -

I'm not too sure why I've being nice enough to give the movie 2 stars when I should really give it 1. The twist wasn't a complete let down, however, the aftermath after the twist was discovered could've went in a more interesting direction than it did. Overall, it seemed like a knockoff of the Paranormal Activity movies but without the paranormal activity.

Last night I watched the last 35 minutes of "Animal House". As frequent readers of mine know, I consider "Animal House" to be the greatest movie ever made.

I still do.

As always, infinity stars for "Animal House"!

BTW, I meant to mention one of my favorite "Animal House" facts. It was co-written by National Lampoon founder Douglas Kenney. When the movie was cast, Kenney was offered any part he wanted. He chose Stork, who has only one line, but it is freaking AWESOME:

"What the hell are we supposed to do, you MO-ron?"

Let the quotes begin!

"Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son."

I checked my extensive movie review archives and found out I had NOT reviewed "Next", although I had mentioned it favorably in another review. So, on to "Next"!

It's awesome, but pretty much all of Nicholas Cage's movies are awesome. Even "Valley Girl", which was totally awesome to the max! (some of you might not be old enough to get that but trust me - that was a kick-ass old school reference.)

"Next" revolves around Cage's ability to see two minutes into the future. But only HIS future. He can only see things in which he's a participant. So he uses this ability to be a two-bit magician in a downtown Vegas hotel, and also cheats at blackjack in order to make money for Columbo a/k/a Peter Falk. They apparently live in Dan Tanna's old digs. Wait - you don't know who Dan Tanna is?!?

Only the coolest 70's television dude EVER. Thomas Magnum, P.I. had NOTHING on Dan Tanna. Tanna (played by Robert Urich) drove a '57 T-Bird and lived in an old prop warehouse, which allowed him to drive his car right into his living room. MAXIMUM coolage! Dan Tanna was so cool that he had the following guest stars on his TV show:

Muhammed Ali. I could stop this list right now because unless Prince was on this show, it just couldn't get any cooler. But there was also June Lockhart (the Beaver's mom!); Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady!); Dean Martin (Fourth-Coolest Man in History, behind only Ali, Prince and my dad); Wolfman Jack; and Johnny Seven. Yep - THE Johnny Seven.

OK, I've got to stop going down rabbit holes but I had to know - who the heck was Johnny Seven? Besides the guy with the most awesome stage name EVER?

Johnny Seven was a character actor that appeared in 26 films and over 600 TV shows. Holy moley! Here he is:

I probably saw him a couple hundred times on TV but could not pick him out of a line-up. That's what character actors do, though. So, a tip of the RodeoSchro Cowboy Hat to this dude who had an awesome name; appeared with all the cool cats on all the cool shows; and was just generally with-it. Back to "Next". See, the reason I've gone on all these tangents is that I like this movie so much, and it has some very important plot twists, and I don't want to give anything away. I want you to watch it! Therefore, I have educated you on various other items of coolness in order to brighten your day and keep you occupied until you watch "Next" on Netflix. And let the record reflect - I had no intention of going down all these rabbit holes until I typed "Dan Tanna". So the fact that this movie led me to type "Dan Tanna", and THAT led me to way more cool rabbit holes than I've included in this review, should tell you that "Next" is just a cool, cool movie.

I rate it four Johnny Sevens out of a possible five Johnny Sevens. No, wait - Johnny Seven was cooler than that. There has to be more Johnny Sevens in my rating system.

I rate "Next" as 6.25 Johnny Sevens out of seven Johnny Sevens. There - that feels right.
