I have heard that tanning salons
can deplete the natural pigment in your skin if used to often! I prefer the natural look of the sun. It is not too bad for you as long as you use sunscreen and dont over do it! You can just tell when some- one "fake bakes". He calls me "Holi" cuz he says everyday w/ me is like a Holiday...

I've seen burns like that, before! I hate it when they show up in the weirdest places - I've gotten the part of my hair burned a few times, and the tips of my ears, and my upper thighs when I wore a different bathing suit that exposed that skin. I mean, like, where is the sun?

I never understood people who intentionally sunbathe (either in the sun or in a tanning salon) and intentionally damage their skin. Skin cancer isn't an attractive look, you know Nor is the crispy burnt look. Also haven't there been loads of studies proving the ageing effect that UV radiation has on skin?
The things people do to themselves Anyway I would say that... I'm more of a pale shade of blue than actual white I burn easily being so fair-skinned, I'm not designed for hot climates at all. Strictly total-sunblock cream if ever I go anywhere with a bit of sun.

Just be careful, try out fake tans, I do, although I am olive skinned sometimes I still feel abit pasty so out comes the fake tan! It is wonderful, they make really good natural looking ones these days so you wont look orange and false. Remember to thoroughly exfoliate first and moisturise and rub in all over to ensure an even coverage.
I love sunbathing but my skin can take the sun...obviously I do it carefully and always use high factor sun screens and then wean them down to lower ones.. I must admit I use the sun bed, very, very little though, this is to dry out and improve my skin condition..but I never go on for colour... When I was a baby I tanned just in warm air, I think I was about 3 months old and I was so brown I looked like a little black baby lol Just read all these posts CarrieLee, because you dont want to ruin your holiday with burned skin or sun stroke, dont over do it on the first few days either, cover up. I wouldn't recommend BOTOX either, recent reports have found this potentially dangerous too, maybe it takes out wrinkles but it hardens the skin and you can get wrinkles else where, the skin is natural and will not react so well to chemicals injected in it, read up on BOTOX, I dont know enough about it but from what I have read and heard about it, it is not recommended... Anyway, be sure to have fun on your holiday and remember to update us on your return!

Carrie I am a sunworshipper of the first water
i artifically do so as THERAPY (but i cannot say about those base level beds, i can only use the high pressure ones). but the bed u were in sounds like it had all the levels of UBV and UVA that the sun at this time would have ON YA, as its ur first EXposure to the LIGHT... just use lotts of Aveno and Coco Butter - for ur first tan u should have done a 15 in the Ultra Bronze bed that way eliminating the BURN and getting that BASE up front... also it depends on the lotions (bed lotions) u use... california will fry u and get NO REAL RESULTS... ~Live Free ...
