Golden State Warriors 94 Oklahoma City Thunder 118


The Oklahoma City Thunder stunned the Golden State Warriors and much of the NBA universe by winning game 3 in a rout. But the Warriors have been down 2-1 before and managed to get themselves back on track, as they did last season against the Memphis Grizzlies and in the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Would Golden State be able to right the ship again or would the Thunder keep rolling?

Early on the Thunder broke out to a huge 11 point lead in the first quarter before the Warriors hit their stride, getting to within three in the middle of the second quarter. But then OKC exploded, led by Russell Westbrook, who finished iwth a triple double, scoring 36 points while grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 11 assists. THe Thiunder would go into the half with a 19 point lead.

Golden State would try to make it competitive, getting to within six points late in the third quarter, but OKC would pull away with balanced scoring and stifling defense, particularly on Stephen Curry, who finished with just 19 points on six for 20 shooting from the floor. Kevin Durant finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds, Alvin Roberson and Serge Ibaka each added 17 points, Steven Adams added 11 points, and Dion Waiters added 10 points. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 26 points, but the rest of the supporting cast had an awful game, with Draymond Green finishing with just six points, Harrison Barnes scoring 11 points, and Andre Iguodala and Shawn Livingston basically MIA off the bench, finsihing with a total of 12 points between them.

The Golden State Warriors were looking to make history in these NBA playoffs after finishing the regular season with a record 73 victories, now find themselves on the brink of elimination, and if they don't find some way to regian their regular season form, they will be history before we know it.

Oklahoma City leads series 3-1.

Golden State will more than likely win the next one.

I just hope the Thunder close them out in game 6.

Westbrook and KD playing like they want that ring THIS YEAR!

OKC should finish them off in Game 5. Don't give the Warriors any hope.

The Toronto Raptors came into this game having evened up the series by winning the last two games at home, and they were hoping to steal this game away from the Cavs and take a 3-2 lead back to Canada and win the Eastern Conference Finals in front of their adoring fans. Out of the gate, they played wth some energy, and led 7-6 about three minutes into the game.

That would be their last lead in this game.

The Cavs just steamrolled over the Raptors from that point on, ending the first quarter with an 18 point lead and never looked back. They were led by Kevin Love, who up until this poiint had been struggling in this series but scored 25 points tonight. Lebron James and Kyrie Irving each added 23 points, and Richard Jefferson added 11 points off the bench. DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with 14 points but shot just 2 for 8 from the floor. Kyle Lowry scored 13 points on 5 for 12 shooting from the floor.

Cleveland leads series 3-2.

Wow, what a shit-show of a game last night. The Raptors played terrible. They have one more chance tomorrow, but..........................................

The Golden State Warriors came into this game facing elimination on their home court, which was shocking considering the historic regular season they had. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City had an opportunity to close out this series and return to the NBA Finals for the first time in five seasons.

The first half would be tight thanks to the explosive play of Kevin Durant and their stifiling defense on Stephen Curry. But the Warriors got unexpected help from their big man Andrew Bogut, who scored 15 points in the game and also grabbed 14 rebounds. They also got help off the bench from Marreese Speights, who scored 14 points in this game. Golden State would go into the half with an eight point lead.

But the Thunder refused to go away. They would bounce back and take a brief one point lead midway through the third quarter and was down by just four at the end of the quarter. But Golden State would go on a run at the start of the fourth quarter thanks to Stephen Curry, who finished with 31 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals. The Warriors would lead by as much as 13 points in the fourth quarter, but even then OKC refused to die. Kevin Durant would pull the Thunder within five with about four minutes remaining, but OKC could not get any closer despite their torrid play. Klay Thompson finished with 27 points for the Warriors while Draymond Green finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin Durant had a monster game for OKC, scoring 40 points while Russell Westbrook finished with 31 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and five steals. Serge Ibaka added 13 points and eight rebounds.

While Golden State desperately needed this victory, the mood on the OKC side was one of disappointment of letting this game get away. Even so, they can still close out the series in front of their home fans.

Eastern Conference Finals

Game 6

Cleveland Cavaliers 113 Toronto Raptors 87


The Cleveland Cavaliers were looking to close out this series in game 6, and Lebron James in particular was looking to make history as a victory tonight would guarantee his sixth consecutive NBA Finals appearance, which would make him the first player to do that since Bill Russell and his celebrated Celtics dynasty. Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors were hoping to win in front of t heir adoring fans, where they had played solidly since the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and force a game 7 back in Cleveland.

But the Cavs came out meaning business. They would take the lead midway through the first quarter and never trailed after that thanks to Lebron, who scored 20 of his 33 points in the first half. He would also finish with 11 rebounds and six assists. The Cavs would take a 14 point lead nto halftime and led by as much as 21 points in the third quarter before Toronto would make one last run to tie the game. Kyle Lowry would pull the Raptors within 10 points early in the fourth quarter.

But Cleveland would rediscover their 3-point stroke. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and J.R. Smith would hit some key shots from behind the arc that would pull this game away for good. Kyrie Irving finished with 30 points and nine assists, Kevin Love finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and J.R. Smith finished with 15 points. Kyle Lowry led the Raptors with 35 points while DeMar DeRozan finished with 20 points, but they got no help from their supporting cast in the end. It would be a stinging defeat in what was otherwise an amazing season for the Raptors.

The Cleveland Cavaliers now return to the NBA Finals and await the winner of the Oklahoma City/Golden State series.

Cleveland wins series 4-2.

The Oklahoma City Thunder had an opportunity to stun the basketball world by closing out this series against the Golden State Warriors in front of their home fans. They were successful due to the inspired play of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, but one of the other reasons they were able to take a 3-1 lead in this series was their defense against Stephen Curry. So it would seem if they were able to shut him down again tonight, they had a more than decent shot of returning to the NBA Finals for the first rime since 2012.

Early on the Thunder would outhustle the Warriors on the glass, and though Golden State kept the game relatively close, OKC would gradually pull away to a 13 point lead in the third quarter. Yet while the Thiunder was pulling away from the Warriors, they began rushing shots and missing buckets, particularly from the 3-point line. Nevertheless, they had relatively shut down Stephen Curry up to this point.

Unfortunately for OKC, they forgot about the other Splash Brother, Klay Thompson. Thompson would have an absolutely monstrous game, scoring 41 points including a NBA playoff record 11 shots from behind the three-point line. He singlehandedly kept Golden State in the game, yet OKC stilll led by seven points with five minutes remaining in the game.

But Golden State would turn it up to another level. Andre Igoudala and Draymond Green would each make crucial steals down the stretch, and Iguodala would tie the game on a driving layup. Then the wheels fell of the wagon for OKC, as they got rattled by the Warriors comeback and began making sloppy turnovers. Klay Thompson would hit his 11th 3-point shot of the game to put Golden State up for good, and this woke up Stephen Curry, who would grab a couple of bad passes from PKC to keep possession, and hit a driving layup to ice the game. Curry would finish with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists while Draymond Green finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Kevin Durant finished with 29 points and seven rebounds but shot only 10 for 31 from the floor. Russell Westbrook finished with 28 points and 11 assists but shot only 10 for 27 from the floor. Serge Ibaka added 13 points and nine rebounds while Alvin Roberson added 11 points but was in foul trouble throughout the game.

OKC will probably wonder how they let this game get away from them, but in the meantime the Golden State Warriors will look to make an incredible comeback as they go home for a decisive game seven.

Series tied at 3-3.

Epic choke job by OKC. Had the lead with five minutes left, but couldn't finish. Horrible execution, turnovers, and their two stars were the biggest culprits. Like Charles, Kenny & Shaq said, too much "hero ball" - no movement at all.

they can still win....but they don't deserve to win. That was some of the worst 2 minutes of playoff basketball I've ever seen.

They waited until 10 seconds on the shot clock to get moving.....too much 1-on-1, not getting teammates involved, Durant throwing the ball away, Westbrook bouncing the ball off his leg.......WTF? All the good they did the first five games was undone because they reverted to their old habits. These cats have been to the Finals before, so they're playoff tested. I can't believe they fucked up at home.

This series should've never made it to game 7, OKC will have to play flawless to win Monday night IMO

The Golden State Warriors came into this game looking to finish an incredible comeback to win the series and advance to the NBA Finals. The Oklahoma City Thunder, however, were looking to do the near impossible and win a game 7 on the road after having blown two opportunities to close out the series. History was not on their side, but they weren't planning on rolling over and dying.

The first half would actually go OKC's way. They dominated the boards and got the entire team into the game. Kevin Durant played distributor to Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, and Steven Adams, and they played their best defense of the series in the first half. They led by as much as 13 points in the second quarter, but the Warriors would go on a run due to Klay Thompson's hot shooting from behind the 3-point line. Golden State would cut the deficit to six points at the half but were held to their lowest first half point total in this series.

But the Warriors would come storming back and exploded in the third quarter when they rediscovered their 3-point stroke. They were led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who would tie the game, and the banch would put them ahead by as much as 11 points thanks to contributions from Andre Iguodala, Shawn Livingston, and Anderson Varejao. Golden State continued to burn OKC from behind the 3-point arc in the fourth quarter thanks to Curry, Iguodala, and Draymond Green hitting huge shots.

Nevertheless, OKC refused to go away quietly. Kevin Durant would singlehandedly keep the Thunder in the game, getting them within four points with 1:39 remaining in the game. But they could not get any closer. Serge Ibaka would foul Stephen Curry on a 3-point shot attempt, which allowed him to hit thee free throws, and after Durant missed two shots including a 3-point attempt, Curry would ice the game with another 3-point shot of his own. Curry finished with 36 points while Klay Thompson finished with 21 points and Draymond Green finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. Kevin Durant scored 27 points for OKC while Russell Westbrook finished with 19 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds. Serge Ibaka added 16 points, but in the end it was not enough for OKC, and it was a bitter defeat for a team that looked like it was about to stun the basketball world. In addition, this game may be the last time we see Durant and Westbrook together, as Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season ends.

The Golden State Warriors now go on to the NBA Finals to defend their title in a rematch against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who this time have their key supporting players healthy for this go around.

Golden State wins series 4-3.

Yep, the Warriors showed their championship mettle, but OKC had this and let it slip away - one of the biggest choke jobs I've ever seen in the NBA playoffs. They definitely need a third legit scorer.

Yes, choke they did. They had 3 excellent chances to take the series from GSW, but didn't...they could've, but didn't. Honestly, they had us worried there for a minute, but all the Warriors needed was a tiny window, the Thunder gave it to us in Game 5 and the Warriors never looked back. Still, the challenge was great. Now off to the finals....

So what's the consensus about KD? Do you guys think he's going to stay with OKC? I think he should.

Warriors displayed toughness - they took a punch in the mouth from OKC, got up and punched back. That's what champions do - show heart. OKC had none at "winnin' time".
