In honor of Easter....Eggs!!! Look. Build a bridge and get over it. The tradition isn't going away within your lifetime.

Jesus rises from the dead and it's celebrated with chocolate eggs. Sounds about right.

It actually goes back to pagan fertility celebrations, which were celebrated around the same time as the Passover. When many of those cultures became Christianized, they kept their symbols and traditions. Many missionaries adopted the egg as a symbol of new life and renewal, which is thematically in tune with the Resurrection and the "new life" granted by Christ ![]() Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It always struck me as odd that Christians celebrated easter by giving each other chocolate eggs. And now I know. ![]()

Yep, the same is true of the traditional Christmas celebration at the end of the year, which was Christianized from pagan origins. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Yup! In fact, most of the Christian holidays have some sort of pagan element in it that was adapted by converts. ![]() Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
