When many of those cultures became Christianized, they kept their symbols and traditions. Well I didn't know that. It always struck me as odd that Christians celebrated easter by giving each other chocolate eggs. And now I know. smile

Yup! In fact, most of the Christian holidays have some sort of pagan element in it that was adapted by converts.
