For those of who've thought Funkcreep hilariously ignorant. Ask yourself if you accept evolution or the antiquity of the earth. If the answer to either is no, have a long think about the denialism and motivated reasoning displayed by Funkcreep and know that you are really no different.

If your reason for denying evidence is because it jeopardises your religious beliefs. Maybe it's the latter that has the problem. Worth thinking about?

Yeah, there are a ton of fringe groups that inject all kinds of theories into all types of things, it's nothing new. For me, after viewing the video EvilAngel posted it answered a ton of questions. All of this is pretty much mind game bs going on in this thread, tons of people like to do that too.

lol Your evidence to convince a religious zealot flat earther is to cite climate change? He thnks the earth is flat. What chance do you think he accepts climate change?

Yep. All evidence against this crap is "just part of the conspiracy". That's the cognitive dissonance Funkcreep was talking about. Same as young earth creationists who deny evidence of evolution as a conspiracy of godless scientists.

.

actually i think the funniest people participating on this thread are people who, after twenty pages of posts, continue to participate, angrily insulting Funkcreep and trying again and again to stop the humor train which is this thread. biggrin

.

the more they try and fail, the funnier this entire thread becomes.

.

so imo the hilarity of this thread is to be found in the posts of those who refuse to see this or cannot see this and who continue to ram their heads against the brick wall that is this topic.

.

now THAT is hilarious lol

I'm hoping the entire thing is a joke, because otherwise it's a special kind of stupid, even for this site.

i disagree. it is entertaining, and fun to think about things that are off the beaten track, true or otherwise. if people were only to think about topics they think they 'know' about, if we only ever discussed traditional notions, we would limit the possibility horizon of new ideas and ways of thought.

.

for me, personally, i enjoy this sort of thread topic. and once upon a time, back in the day when the ORG wasn't filled with people who desire to control what other people post on the internet, back when we actually had fun threads and a lot of laughter here, this thread would blend in.

.

it says a lot about the ORG right now that this topic has receieved the kinds of hostile, angry, personal attack and insult responses it has.

.

there are people here incapable of seeing the humor, who are also angrily, personally invested in trying to force FunkCreep to abandon his stance. and each time they spend the time to come back and attempt to 'disprove' the OP's premise, it kind of makes me giggle.

.

because THAT is a special kind of stupid, imo.

you two show up here and demand the thread be locked just because *you* don't like it? maybe instead of ruining the entire thread, you should simply resist posting here or visiting again? just a respectful suggestion

No, I don't need to see anything at this point; as I've said, the "joke" just ran its course, and I'd rather have humour and (moderate) insults in a ridiculous OP thread than self-righteous, angry pseudo-intellectualization, especially since lust jumped in... neutral

lock for humanity's sake...

and bwt, "asking" for a lock is not the same thing as DEMANDING it rolleyes

I can ask, it's a free site...

lovely... lol

take funkcreep for example, he hasn't posted a SINGLE FUNNY thing in this damn thread shrug whatever...

Any readers who are disappointed by the lack of humour that is apparent in this thread may instead prefer to browse through this hilarious page. I didn't know, for example, that "the force known as gravity doesn't exist".

And of course on a flat earth, the equator doesn't exist either. Those poor Ecuadorians are going to have to rename their country. neutral

It looks like on that map/the UN flag, you could draw the equator anywhere you want.

Does that make us all Ecuadorians?

I never understood why people always want threads locked. Threads that are not innapropriate and stay on topic. Basically "I no longer want to read this thread so I don't want anyone else too either" if you don't like it or are butthurt because your own beliefs have been questioned, feel free to sling your hook.

The fact of the matter is, people do believe this stuff and it's fun and interesting to look at the model and see what aspects are consistent with reality and what aspects of any fail to match our reality. It's a fun thought experiment.

XxAxX, I've noticed that you're very uncomfortable with having strange beliefs questioned or inaccuracies pointed out. Why? How do you learn and improve your understanding of things if all sides can't be discussed. You got very angry and abusive last year when I tried to provide evidence to refute your belief in a hollow earth. If someone puts forward a controversial topic then attempted refutation will follow. If you feel more comfortable in an echo chamber there's plenty of sites that would work for you. But I'd encourage you to stay here, view both sides of a topic and be prepared to learn something.
