Isn't it kind of late to resurrect X-Files? I could see doing a mini-series or a TV movie but to risk a whole series in this day and age doesn't seem to be a good move. I would be surprised to see Ducovny sign on. Doesn't he still have a cable series Californication going?

David Duchovny Says Yes To New X-Files As a shorter series... 21 January 2015 | Written by Owen Williams | Source: USA Today (via Coming Soon) Following Monday's news that Fox are keen to re-open The X-Files, David Duchovny has made it known that he's happy to slip back into Fox Mulder's suit. "I'm assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later," he told USA Today. But he also bluntly answered some of the immediate questions about what sort of show a new X-Files might be. Given Duchovny's apparent attitude towards the series in the last couple of years of its original run, there are, as you might expect, caveats. "We'll see what form [it takes] and how many episodes," he teased. "Certainly I can't, nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season." After seven years of paranormal investigations, Mulder took a back seat in The X-Files' eighth and ninth years, with new agents Doggett and Reyes (Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish) stepping in to join Gillian Anderson's Scully and Mitch Pileggi's Skinner. Duchovny's words either suggest a short season or a continuation of that latterday set-up, in which Mulder and Scully serve in some sort of supervisory capacity to some new agents. Duchovny and Anderson are, to be fair, both currently busy with their separate small screen careers: Anderson has a recurring role on Hannibal and may make more series of The Fall, while Duchovny has a new show called Aquarius set to launch this year. X-creator/show-runner Chris Carter, however, suddenly has time on his hands following Amazon's decision not to proceed with his supernatural show The After. What do you mean by that?? The show already has a large loyal fan base. If the stories are good and interesting why not? I do hope Chris Carter stays away from making humerous episodes. Those were the worse episodes and seemed forced,

I don't think it needs a full season. Even if it had like a half season thing like 24's return. 13 solid episodes to end the story. Chris Carter knows he fucked up with his show. I'm sure even the actors know the ending was shit. Just give like 10-13 episodes to end everything. And i think people would be happy. Or do some Days Of Future Past shit & erase season 9

Don't want Mulder and Scully just there to pass the torch. Why bring back Dogget and Reyes who were Mulder's and Scully's replacements?

Yeah don't bring it back just to give us X-Files light. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny need to be in it. If they only want to do one season of it then fine. Don't do this show just to lead into a new X-Files with a young hot new cast (you know "this aint your fathers/mothers X-files" shit they like to say).

I watched this on Sunday.

It wasn't very good.

They had better TV episodes than the premise of this movie.

I agree. I know J.J Abrams is busy with the new "Star Wars" but it would have been cool to see him add his magic to this. Duchovny said he was starring in a new NBC series as a detective (set in the late 60's) trying to catch Charles Manson and his gang...Don't know if that is still in the works...He was great as Hank Moody....Gillian Anderson is still hot...also glad to hear "Twin Peaks" will be coming back.

I do not want J.J Abrams taking over because I feel he did a terrible job with Star Trek. If Chris Carter can stay true to the X-Files (Stay away from humor because it never worked). I think derailing of any series is because the series stayed on for to long. X-Files should have gone off the air once Scully and Mulder were gone. Laverne and Shirley should have gone off the air when Shirley left.
