Since this is a conservative city the primary radio stations while I was growing up were rock or country and western, then in 1980 I believe, Willie Morrow began operating 92.5 the new and only "urban" station around, then some mess happened in 1990, and it no longer was playing " urban" music it played rock for a very short period of time, months, then it became what its supposed to be now a top hits oldies station which now can include mostly "urban/pop" music from 2010-1950s. After 9pm it plays the slow romantic songs which can have the 50s in heavy rotation which doesn't catch my interest so even though during the day while I'm out and about I'd listen to that station, but while I'm at home in the evenings it wouldn't be something I listened to. The current pop stations I don't really like especially at night, so outside of the morning shows I don't listen to them much. There is another "oldies" station that plays more 80s and higher music, but I'm so out of the habit of listening to non-talk music radio in my evening driving, due to many many occasions watching the Grammys and seeing artists and bands win awards I never heard of because the top hits pop stations here don't play their songs just the same stuff on heavy rotation, boring. But now varies talk radio has all but been shutdown for one reason or the other with the exception of conservative radio, basic radio for pleasure for me is a minimal thing.

But I am going to invest in a hand crank radio soon, because even the AM conservative radio which has a very strong signal will definitely be up and running in an emergency.

My receiver has a radio option but I never use it in the house.

I think my alarm clock does to, but I choose to wake to the gentle sound of birds chirping. For real.

I do listen to the radio in the car, though. Mostly MPR and NPR.

I have to wake gently too but if birds are chirping I won't get up. I tried it with my cell phone, lol

I have the alarm clock and the car radio on NPR in the morning because I hate shock jocks.

i have one of those too, also walkie talkies and a battery powered CB. like a good little survivalist, i keep them all in a faraday cage/grounded metal box, in case whatever knocks the power out is a solar flare/emp pulse cause that will fry out the electrical circuits on anything electronic that isn't protected

True story: I bought the birds chirping alarm clock when I lived in my condo 9 floors above the city. I loved it from the first time I used it.

Now that I live in a house things have changed a bit. More than once I've tried to hit the snooze, been confused why I set my alarm on the weekend and then realized there were actual birds chirping ouotside my window. lol

I have a clock radio that I use as an alarm to wake me up in the morning. But, it's tuned into a talk radio station. I got tired of "Single Ladies" waking me up every morning. That was a nightmare!

I needed some type of speaker(s) for my TV in my studio so, my brother bought me a iHome soundbar from Big Lots it has FM radio option but I don't use it. Mainly I listen to radio via the computer / iPod / Internet these days. I can't deal with anytype of commercials these days so I listen to music void of commercials.

While I rarely listen to radio at home, I'm admittedly the sentimental type in some odd areas, so I was horrified when after throwing out an old component stereo set this summer, I discovered it was the last remaining AM/FM receiver in my flat. It just felt wrong.

I've since gotten over the crisis. When/if I do get an urge for radio at home --- and that's only ever to listen to public radio news -- I just livestream from online.

The only indoor radio I still have is on my stereo receiver which I don't have any of the stations preset into it because I never listen to it. The only time I listen to the radio is in the car.
