i don't see his comment as race baiting, i think he's right. black men have been proven to receive disproportionately harsher sentencing compared to white men with similar criminal charges. check it:

Why bother 2 bring up any FACTS related 2 this subject. Dude has an agenda and he sticks 2 it. I'm used 2 it.

But Ray Rice - a black man - received a lighter sentence. In fact, if he completes his "Diversionary Program", he will have no record at all.

So I don't think there's any doubt whatsoever that Graycap is race-baiting. In fact, as you can see by reading the first 25 posts in this thread, no one brought up race in any way, shape or form - until Graycap did.

He made this thread about race, which was his intent.

All this coming from a person whose tagline is "Second Funkiest White Man in America" GTFOHWTBS lol Ok, I gotta go back to not responding to you anymore. LOL

I don't see that its about race. I see its about the morality of mean beating women. As well as about the failed attempt of the NFL to protect its image with a subject it need no do that with. Only magnifying the number of antiquated views on domestic violence floating around.

Race may be some tiny element in reporting or reaction...simply cuz of race permeate the u.s. but i don't see this being about race at all. I don't understand how u feel its about race orhow its involved so heavily seventeendayz

Maybe I'm speaking Calculus to those who struggle in Algebra but I never said this issue was about RACE. I said to a LESSER EXTENT race was a factor. Did you not read what I wrote to OldFriendsforSale? Man, this is a complicated issue for a number of reasons but if you want to pin the tail on the "educated Nigress" then be my guest.

Reminds me of the Vick situation yet there are folks around the world killing animals every single day of the week for sport. None of those folks are in prison. It would be great 2 see a bit of common sense when it comes 2 handing out punishment for everyone across the board. It seems that the brothers ALWAYS take the hardest hit.

Of course..........we all know race has nothing 2 do with his punishment. If that is your stance, show me another player and any other sport banned for this same action. I'll wait.

I will say this...

Yes he did initially get preferential treatment, BUT...

Of course that didn't last. He lost his career, his family is ridiculed and embarrassed, and everyone wants his head on a stick.

All of this would seem somewhat reasonable HAD Janay pressed charges. She didn't, so now BOTH of them have to be badgered into compliance, meanwhile no one is going to put a life that the two of them seemed to be getting on with back together. All for our entertainment, because believe me no one (based on their actions) cares THIS much about the domestic lives of people we have no connection to.

If it's your mother, sister, close relative or friend? Yes. And like I said before if the couple insists on sticking it out...

But since they're celebrities now they have to be symbols and conveniently, black.

That being said I will say I don't think anyone here personally has race in mind but that hardly matters because of the way this thing is playing out on all fronts.

to be fair, this thread has been about a lot of things so far. just look back over it. as always on the ORG, the topic lurches around like a drunk moose in an orchard. lots of people have posted regarding topics that are offshoots of the central theme, not just Gray.

we all have our own points of view and imo Gray wasn't trying to jack the thread as much as just post his view. can't he just do that? please don't harsh him off the ORG. he just came back to us

I'm dealing with this right now. One of our friends, who works for us, was beaten up by her husband last weekend. He threatened to come back and hurt her, and their kids, real bad. He got arrested but now he's out of jail.

We don't know where he is or who he's staying with. We figure he's on meth. He could show up at my office any time.

It's very sad to see people like Graycap turn this into a race-baiting game. Domestic violence happens across all races.

Most people are now madder at Roger Goodell and the NFL for the way they've lied about this (which, of course, protected a black man but that's not a fact the race-baiters want to acknowledge) than they are at Ray Rice.

Ijust dont see HIS PUNISHMENT(2 b clear) being about race. I see it about the morality of men beating women. As well as the NFL's failed attempts to control PR. Does he happen to be black? Yes. If it was about race I think it would have started out as an indefinite suspension. It didn't. It started as a 2 game suspension. Did his race change in the process?

Exactly. I think some people deliberately confuse the issue of "race" and "racism". Ray Rice is a black man who most likely got preferential treatment in his life because he's a stellar athlete. From pee wee league all the way to the pros, I'm assuming he may have had a modicum of defacto white privelege because he can run fast and he's amazing to watch on the field. He brings value to any team that he is on. I can't judge him per se but there have been countless reports of star athletes not being held to the same standard in school because they don't want the wrath of the coach, other players or (especially) the athletic boosters that bankroll many of these school teams. So, who is he going to be without his identity as a football player? Does he have basic business skills? Many young kids, especially black boys, are steered into sports because that's just how America is but once their sports days are over, they are cast out like yesterday's news. In that regard, he's not had the typical black male experience.

Who else but Chris Brown, Ray Rice and even Ray Lewis walk away from such harsh penalties that the rest of folks, especially black men as XXaXX pointed out? These men are given a pass because they are athletes, not because they are black men. They are having a very different life experience because of that. Now that Ray Rice can kiss his career goodbye, he's going to be in for a very rude awakening that will be exacerbated by his domestic violence scandal in the NFL.

Even though I disagree with you, I have an idea of what you are trying to say. To answer your question, please see what I just wrote a few lines up. I was basically saying that Ray Rice gets a pass from the NFL (before TMZ blew this up) because he's a valuable player, not because he's a black man. But, the fact that he's getting all these attacks on his character, as he should, introduces some of hypocrisy that many people have already alluded to. This thread is pretty long but go back and read the posts about the MMA fighter who is blackballed from the association because of domestic violence. There are pictures and everything else that are horrific but it wasn't played out in the media very much at all. Granted that the NFL is the most profitable league, I assume, that still shows a double standard in media coverage, at the very least.

It is amazing to see this guy go from being arguably one of the best players in the league to being shunned. I think TMZ may have already had the tape but someone with nefarious motives didn't want the story to break until after Week 1 of the season. This will affect fantasy football leagues and also sports betting to a greater extent. Yes, this is far fetched but it's a possibility. Harvey Levin broke the original story back in February but notice how NOBODY in the media talked about what happened INSIDE the elevator until now? My first gut reaction was to wonder what happened INSIDE the elevator and I'm sure many of you reading this had the same thought when the original story broke months ago.

Wow, the NFL sure got to Bill Polian in a hurry! Polian was interviewed twice on ESPN this morning, in the span of 20 minutes. Both times, he was specifically asked if he, as someone who has worked in the NFL office, thought it was possible for an NFL executive to have obtained a copy of the tape showing Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancée in an elevator, as was reported by the AP yesterday, and not have shown that tape to Roger Goodell or any other NFL execs. Check out the transcripts of the two answers and tell me if you see anything that changed, LOL:

http://deadspin.com/bill-...1633593081

NUMBER 1:
It is very puzzling to me. As a matter of fact, I worked as a vice president in the NFL office in 1993, with respect to football operations. I know how the office works, I've physically been there—it was a different building, not the one they're in now—but it's very difficult for me to understand how that could happen. Especially when you're in a situation that is as high-profile as that particular incident is. It's puzzling, and I have as many questions as everyone else. It's outside my area of expertise. For all the years that I was in the NFL, NFL security, and the NFL's ability to protect its integrity, the so-called "protection of the shield," was unmatched in American business. Forget about sports—in American business. I mean, you did not step out of line in the NFL, and if you did, there was an unwritten rule that when you were called into the office—and met with someone who was the commissioner or there at the behest of the commissioner—that you better come clean, that you better tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And if you work in the office, you better be on top of the details. The office was there to make sure that the clubs, the players, the reputation of the NFL reamined unsullied. That goes back to the 1960's with the administration of Pete Rozelle. So this is totally, totally out of character for what I know of the NFL office.

NUMBER 2:
Well it can happen. It's a very large organization, much larger than when I served in the league office, maybe much larger by a factor of 10. When you have a large, bureaucratic organization, which that is, and there are some that think it is too large, very honestly. Things can slip through the cracks. Someone can make a value judgement who has no right to make that judgement. The CEO, who is in effect Roger Goodell, doesn't get all the information he needs all the time. That's a fact of life in bureaucracies. In this case, we'll find out what happened, and they'll absolutely, they being the NFL and Roger, will have to take steps to make sure it never happens again.

You didn't answer any of my questions. It's hard to admit when you get schooled, right? Anyway, go back and read the thread that YOU started about the Jewish influence on Prince's music/Purple Rain/career and how that thread turned into a discussion about Family Name and Jewish control of the entertainment industry. Thanks and let's just agree to disagree at this point because you didn't even bother to acknowledge anything that I wrote in the previous post because the truth hurts. Now, run along and get your Ben Carson jersey before it's too late. Be sure to cheer for him loudly when he has his next medical breakthrough discovery.

LMAO you are paranoid. I did not write anything. Who is coocoo

Admit what Seventeen days?

You have a problem. You have race problem. Are you SERIOUS??? Are you seriously upset about a general post about that Jewish post. Those were NOT my words. I just post something I saw on the web. I don't even think I had a response to it. AND IT WASN'T EVEN A SERIOUS POST!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUSLY pulling up some old thread about PURPLE RAIN an those Jewish people in the group? SERIOUSLY?

.

You don't deserve for me to answer questions.

You have race issue boo boo.

Just because someone doesnt' agree with you doesn't mean they have race issues.

You apparently don't like being called out on your own words and you knew good and well that thread was serious because you damn near wrote a dissertation on it. Anyway, happy trails, I have nothing else to say and I don't want to risk this thread being locked because it's seeming like it could go off topic any minute. Touchdown, Ben Carson!

Lol u r showing ur behind lol that was a cut n paste
lol its clear ur post was personal and u need to back away sllooowly

Ijust dont see HIS PUNISHMENT(2 b clear) being about race. I see it about the morality of men beating women. As well as the NFL's failed attempts to control PR. Does he happen to be black? Yes. If it was about race I think it would have started out as an indefinite suspension. It didn't. It started as a 2 game suspension. Did his race change in the process?

As I stated, what other player has been suspened indefinitely 4 this?

None. I don't attribute this to his rave though. I attributes it to societies changing view of domestic viiolence and public figuresbgetting passes...also, the nfl's attempt to control The PR in regards to this.

I've seen many a black man spend time in jail for this and Ray's spent none and likely won't. I'm sure he's not the first man to loose his job(temporarily here...it likely won't b a lifelong ban) cuz of domestic violence. Lifelong bans seemed reserved for gamblers and game fixers. Some seasons were given to DUI'ers

War machine isn't black...but he's gonna get time and he's lost his way to make a living as well. I don't think it hit the tv media heavily cuz it was properly(IMO) address by his employers and was hunted down by the police after he went on the lamb. Plus homegirlbis a raunch porn star(filthy nasty and I like her...lots) and would b hard to cover heavily in the media cuz of the general publics perception of porn stars...espicially raunchy ones who get slapped any go ATM regularly.
He's not black and was treated harshly and appropriately. Rays black and was treated nicely(relatively).

I know that blacks get harsh scentencing terms in our judicial system as well as in the public. I attribute all this media attention to the NFL's idiocy. The NFL trying to play ignorant while covering it up is mentioned as much, if not more than ray punching his wife is mentioned. Sometimes ray is mentioned only to get to the gooddell story. Legally, rays getting off where many a black man would be in jail.

Is his punishment about race cuz he's getting off?
