That's true what you said about the black community and Latino community having stigmas placed about mental health and getting therapy. It's like the communities are in the dark ages when it comes to that kind of thing. Black folks, the majority, see therapy as too secular or "too white" or the minute they hear that someone is getting treated for mental health issues, they disappear from that person's life. It's really sad on so many levels. Trolls be gone!

I wouldn't know anything about that. A man isn't putting his hands on me, gay or otherwise.

I don't know anything about women, and I'm not trying to learn. So would it be a punk move for a woman to hit a man? I don't understand this. Women want to be equal to men and shit, but don't want to get hit like one. Whatever. Straight problems.

Why are some of you so quick to say it's "not about race" the minute that someone wants to introduce the issue of race into a topic? If you don't want to talk about race, then don't talk about it but to belittle someone who wants to bring it up is just plain stupid. Why don't you folks who have a problem with any and all conversations about race (unless of course you bring up how whites are oppressed in America) just get over it already? There are people whose lives are very much shaped by the culture and community that they are in. White have a tendency to hear a black person talk about race in terms of "this doesn't happen to white folks" and that's just not reality. We aren't saying it doesn't happen to other races, we are talking about when it happens to OUR RACE. That's why the issue of racism/race and domestic violence/therapy for domestic violence was brought up because there is a cultural issue that comes into play because many black folks bemoan therapy! Plus, as usual, opinions and lies flare up because of something seen out of context. There are obviously other factors leading up to this. As soon as a man hits a woman, he's dogged out like all he does with his time is smack women around. It's never taken into consideration what the female could have done or been doing. What happened before they went into the elevator? They were obviously arguing about something...but let's ignore all that and dog the man out because he hit her BACK. Whatever. Females get too much credit and get away with too much. If she knocked him out in the elevator, she would get a purple heart, a magazine cover, and a book and movie deal.

Shhh................it's never about race. Michael Vick, not about race. Wesley Snipes, not about race. Mike Tyson, not about race. The treatment of Obama, not about race. Ferguson, not about race. Why u want 2 bring up race? FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

I can't speak for everyone, and I've been discussing this since we first started talking about it. Everything isn't about race. I can ask, why is it everytime an AA person is involved that some of you are quick to say it 'is about race'? Is that fair to say. . This is about the NFL and domestic abuse. Did I belittle you? Can you point out the post where someone belittle you? Because I KNOW I did NOT. Again why are you responding to my post like I represent everyone and anyone that says it's not about race? I don't have a problems discussing race where it is, and don't presume to know me or who it is on the other side of the cyberspace screen. The issue of her getting therapy and how some AA people don't like therapy is not the point. That's a different area of discussion. There are a lot of African-Americans that get therapy. But THIS topic isn't about race.

Did you actually read what I wrote or did you just hit "send" after blowing off more steam? I'm serious, not trying to be rude but it seems that you are picking and choosing what you want to see. First of all, did you not see the post that I did earlier in which I said that the issue of race was to a LESSER EXTENT involved in this? The reason why it matters is because many people of color know that blacks are only valuable to the majority of whites as entertainers or athletes. If Ray Rice were the UPS man, they wouldn't care and would throw him under the jail. He gets the treatment he would get if he were a white male of a meager existence would get. A slap on the wrist. So, in that case Ray Rice, indirectly, BENEFITS FROM the fact that he's a black man who is an entertainer/athlete. Tell me, how many white folks do YOU know that have jerseys, posters and other garmets that reflect the name of a black man who is NOT an athlete. Are you guys wearing jerseys with Dr. Ben Carson's name on it? Doubt it because black neurologists just ain't entertaining you know.
You can belittle someone by taking the position that something is not about race when there are people who believe that race is a FACTOR but no one here has said it was the focal point of the discussion. So, as many of you like to say about racism, just get over it already. This is America and racism has existed for hundreds of years and no matter how much you want to wish it away or silence anyone who dare say brings it up on a public forum or in a town hall meeting will not exterminate the reality that it exists and it is a complicated matter! Period. I have YET to see a post where you say it is about race unless it involves Jews.
Your comments are representative of many people here who are quick to say it's "not about race". I never crowned you as the spokesperson of a minority opinion here but when you make those kind of blanket remarks that reflect what most others in your mindset have said, you are putting yourself in the position to be viewed as such.
Get it now?

I'm going to have to say paintedlady, it's never that black in white. . And I'm sorry for a loooong time, a man calling the cops to say his wife was beating him up would usually be followed by laughter. It's still that way to a huge extend. Most men/boy do not report abuse/beating etc . You said men tend to be... strong. That really depends on the person. Just because he's a man doesn't mean that, way too many circumstances. See we have an image of a man that fuels that ideal. Do you remember Don Knotts? and Bea Aurther? That image represents MF relationships. No doubt Bea could woop Don. We can't just assume a man is strong and knows how to fight or even protect himself. Being a man doesn't automatically equal skills in handling himself physically. And being a woman doesn't automatically equal she is weak and can't fight. . And you typed something about 'what a man is supposed to do' lol that isn't always the case, sometimes you can't get away, sometimes you get cornered, sometimes it comes out of no where. The law also does not agree with that ideal. The law gives anyone the right to protect themselves. And I've said it before, no one knows the situation from the start if it will end in his/her life being in danger.

Oh I read your post, And do you get that I'm still asking out of the other people including paintedlady:The Ray Rice issue is NOT a race or class issue, but a world-wide issue that can affect any household, including the affluent. why did you choose to respond to my post? You should have made a general post. . You can only be belittle in that kind of instance if your mind is in that state. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they are trying to belittle you. . HUH? a post where you say it is about race unless it involves Jews?? what are you talking about? Again, you made it personal. Others said 'it isn't about race' before me. . You need to get that you are out of place, You crowned me as the spokesperson when you responded to my post, yet others have said the same thing before me. Get it?

You didn't answer any of my questions. It's hard to admit when you get schooled, right? Anyway, go back and read the thread that YOU started about the Jewish influence on Prince's music/Purple Rain/career and how that thread turned into a discussion about Family Name and Jewish control of the entertainment industry. Thanks and let's just agree to disagree at this point because you didn't even bother to acknowledge anything that I wrote in the previous post because the truth hurts. Now, run along and get your Ben Carson jersey before it's too late. Be sure to cheer for him loudly when he has his next medical breakthrough discovery. Trolls be gone!

Yes, it would be a punk move for a woman to throw the first punch at a gay man. That would count as an assault AND (maybe) a hate crime.

Admit what Seventeen days? You have a problem. You have race problem. Are you SERIOUS??? Are you seriously upset about a general post about that Jewish post. Those were NOT my words. I just post something I saw on the web. I don't even think I had a response to it. AND IT WASN'T EVEN A SERIOUS POST!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUSLY pulling up some old thread about PURPLE RAIN an those Jewish people in the group? SERIOUSLY? . You don't deserve for me to answer questions. You have race issue boo boo. Just because someone doesnt' agree with you doesn't mean they have race issues.

You apparently don't like being called out on your own words and you knew good and well that thread was serious because you damn near wrote a dissertation on it. Anyway, happy trails, I have nothing else to say and I don't want to risk this thread being locked because it's seeming like it could go off topic any minute. Touchdown, Ben Carson!
