I saw it too and was underwhelmed. The book was so much more detailed. Maybe that's why I was expecting more. There was a certain beauty to it...IF you read the book and knew somewhat of the backstory. I found myself caring little for the humans and their plight and felt a sad emptiness watching said humans going about their humdrum lives at the mall/club/jobs, etc. Maybe that was the point.

Just like we don't care much for livestock We don't get too emotionally attached when it will end up on our dinner plate. Isserley didn't relate to humans beyond her script, she maintained unsympathetic distance, she had to because of her job.

I 'got' that part and ScarJo did an amazing job portraying detachment. Her face was the perfect balance between beauty and 'let me hurry up and kill these chickens.' lol They just left TOO MUCH to interpretation. Like the lovemaking scene. Not saying anything had to be graphic...just a little more explanation. shrug wink

I saw the film before I read the book, so at that point (as with food) I just assumed her species just wasn't like a human in much more than superficial appearance. In the book inside her head though you knew shed NEVER want or give in to bestiality!

A very charismatic collection of vignettes that drags a bit much in the second half.

My first time. I was too busy back in 2001 trying to absorb all the great movies of the world. This is not one of them.

But I really enjoyed this totally goofball parody of probably many more things than I can readily account for, including of course the summer camp genre. Densely packed smart stuff all over the place, unraveling into more insanity the deeper it gets.

You don't have to dislike "Meatballs" or any of its friends to love this movie.

If nothing else, marvel at Bradley Cooper's first film, looking about as likely to become one of the biggest movie stars in the world as Patrick Dempsey in "Can't Buy Me Love" seems the natural fit for future mega TV star and heartthrob.

3.5/5

Very TCM-like, light romantic comedy, with Allen riffing on some of his classic themes. Gorgeous scenery. Firth and Stone are enjoyable, as always.

GUARDIANS O THE GALAXY! I had a 72 year old woman to the left of me, and a 10 year old boy to the right. Both loved it equally! So much heart and comedy.

I loved this movie so much! Almost perfect. The best vampire film I've seen in years. Tilda and Tom were amazing.

I was bored through a lot of it while the rest of the theater laughed their asses off for over two hours. I should stop trying to make myself like super hero movies.

The humor didn't sit as well with me as it did for most others apparently. Maybe I'll like it more after a second viewing. I do love the 70s soundtrack though. star star star 1/2

I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did but it had its funny moments.I'm surprised at how poor the critics reviews gave this a rating. I like Melissa McCarthy and this was enjoyable.

Of course you liked it. It's the total opposite kind of movie from Under the Skin. smile

Boyhood is 2 hr 42 minutes the seats are too fucking hard to sit that long unless it Star Wars. I'm probably going to rent it.

ETA: Too long to sit that long when I have no idea if I will like it. Every review written says it's not for everyone. Unlike critically acclaimed TV some movies just do not register with me. I still may go see it on $6 Tuesday.

I'm going to see it in the next week or so. I usually shy away from lengthy running times, but everything I've read and seen tells me that this movie is right in my wheelhouse.

I watched a movie about Indian food last night. It was AWESOME!

"The Hundred Foot Journey" is a great movie. Go see it, you will love it.

I give it 4 Michelin stars (which makes perfect sense if you've seen the movie).

lol "a movie about Indian food" lol OK

My supervisor showed me a trailer of this just a few days ago. If you, Mr. Cowboy, blow 'em up, liked it then it can't be a too sappy chick flick kind of thing, might be worth it.

The Broken Circle Breakdown 4/5 I didn't think I'd like it but I really enjoyed the story. I'm surprised even though it is very sad I didn't feel teary or heartbroken about. That was kind of curious. It definitely isn't for those that need happy endings in their movies.

LOL, but it IS about Indian food!

And yeah, I had lots of snippy remarks ready in case I didn't like this movie ("I wanted to take a Hundred Foot Journey too - to the next screen and watch Guardians of the Galaxy!" Haha, brilliant!).

But it's an awesome movie and you will love it!

^ok I believe you

After The Dark. 3/5. I enjoyed the first one and a half scenarios then it started losing points. A college philosophy class in Indonesia get a last day apocalypse scenerio for a finale grade, from a really creepy teacher. First scenario, brutal, harsh and challenging. Last half of the second scenario got stupid, complete lack of thinking on ones feet, open the freaking door and let the others in to help, no just stand there because you're holding a gun and being helpless. Third scenario a bit of emotional fluff but ok with the addendum which was funny. Lost major points for not even considering people's ability to learn, so everybody just dies because they didn't have useful survival skills a year ago, just stupid an obvious flaw in the logic. Oh but they can build a harp out of nothing, but too dumb to figure out how to survive, again stupid. Lost more points with a sappy creepy teacher ending. But overall it held my attention pretty good.

Lucy

3/5

Liked it a lot, maybe would have liked it more with less violence, but whatevs.

It was a ride. It raised some interesting ideas about how if you used more of your brain so many things - the things that make us human - would have no importance any more.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

3/5

Pretty good. I'm getting burnt out on the superheroes but black widow won me over with her War Games reference heart Watched this same day as Lucy, so I kept forgetting black widow is only using 10% of her brain! nutty

Coming to America

4/5

Watched this one for nostalgic purposes. Knew the boys would get a kick out of McDowells and the soul glow song lol

Hercules... starring Dwayne Johnson...

star star star /out of star star star star star great action sequences, nice eye candy, but corny one liners that will get a cheap chuckle and not pertaining to the time period of this movie. It was loaded with slapstick comedy and wasn't too dark, making it a fun family movie.

It was lighthearted and kept me up... so its worth seeing on the bigscreen for its action.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Likely already a top-10 comic adaptation. One of the few of its kind to have a genuine soulfulness to it, and not just because of its irreverent soundtrack. There are some superhero movie conventions that can't be avoided, but like the best Disney movies, big events seemed to register with the characters. Bautista probably gave the best performance by a pro wrestler in film. Chris Pratt plays Harrison Ford by way of Will Ferrell and proves he can carry a movie. Bradley Cooper was funny. Zoe was good being Zoe. A really good summer flick.
