And at this point I highly doubt the theory that Dany and Jon will ever meet, let alone hook up. But again who knows, the show is going to divert soon. |

Well from everything that I've heard from book readers is that these books become a hot mess and not in a good way. Martin doesn't seem to have a real ending so he's just mandering everyone around.

I agree with what others have said, he's changing his mind on where he originally wanted to go, and dragging out storylines unnecessarily, and adding elements that don't lead anywhere. It seems it's getting written for the role playing gamers, so it's just droning on endlessly.
But there are a ton of possibilities that this story can go in that are exciting, if we can just go on a get to them, and not keep adding things, and stalemating the original characters.

This is why I'm happy I never read a single book and won't until the series ends. I like it just the way it is and don't want to 'know' what's going to happen.

^Ive not read any of the books and probably wont because you know "Magic" and I tried to stay spoiler free but the internet makes it impossible and the more popular this show got the more spoilers were revealed. So I just chucked it and read whats going to happen. I understand now why what I wanted to happen last night, the show needs something for next season to have something to look forward too. Wow. I always have to chuckle when they show Brienne and Podrick. It turns into the "Brienne and Pod show". I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

I try to avoid spoilers too. Difficult though. What did you want to happen? All I want now is Cersei dead. I was smiling like a fool when Tyrion sent that first arrow. He told him not to say "whore" again.

Pretty much. I was sure the hound would kill her. Oh 'me' of little faith.

Can't say anything about Brienne because I will slip and throw out a real spoiler. Though I know a lot of people have read the internet spoilers, I know I did a long time ago.
They did mention the horn, I guess that's when my son was bugging me and I missed the tv dialogue. To me it's kind of fun pieceng together what they may have changed or what they thought was crucial to the overall storyline. I'm happy I'm reading the books because there are a lot of times there is a better explanation for why something happened and certain parts of the show I enjoy more because I understand it better. But it can become tedious because you can see where RR doesn't want to let go of this world. It just rare that you have a tv show about a story that hasn't been completed yet, nobody can spoil the end and everybody is still guessing what anything means. |

Oh I plan on reading the books when the series is finished and THEN watching it ALL again to make comparisons.

At Reply 64, I predicted Stannis would ride and save Castle Black. In E9.
I was wrong. It happened in E10!
Excellent finale. It feels like some compelling storylines are closing down, and perhaps even more compelling and "fantastical" storylines are gearing up.
1. Bran is poised to be the "messiah." I always thought he'd eventually Warg Dany's Dragons, and the Three-Eyed Raven hinted that could happen.
2. I see Dany is being set up for a major fall.
3. I really HATE to see Tywin Lannister's character go. Charles (Sweet Brother Numpsey) Dance was Emmy-worthy in the role. Here's hoping we get to see more of him in big movies down the line (paging JJ Abrams . . .)
4. The Mountain and the Hound ended S4 clinging to life.
5. Jon Snow, stay away from that priestess!
6. Cersei Now Runs Westeros, and we all know "Runs" is pure illusion.

Charles Dance played Tywin so perfectly that I was kind of sad that Tyrion killed him off. But he did give Tyrion that famous look when he was trying to manipulate his way out of Tyrion's crossbow:

I actually felt sad for him when he found out that his own daughter and son have been fucking each other since day 1.... I think Shae the whore made it up for him (It's strange with the Lannisters, notice how the moment a Lannister is pissed off, he fucks the closest one to the one who pissed the Lannisteroff?) |

Oh I hardly believe that when Cersei confessed about her and Jaime that this was "new information" to Tywin. He's known all along that the rumors have been true, he's just been in denial about it. That's the only way he could press on with the "Lannister legacy" by denying the truth. Like Cersei said, their legacy is all a lie anyway because neither Joffrey or Tommen are Baratheon heirs...aside from it all being nasty and incestuous. The only way I can stand to see Jaime and Cersei together in a love/sex scene is to not look at them as brother and sister. That was a great scene; a fitting bookend to Tyrion's walk to the stand at trial when Tywin sat triumphant on the Iron Throne.

Cersei may have actually outranked Baelish as the shrewdest player in S4. Despite what she suffered (and yes, she did suffer two unspeakable things this year), she was more cunning than she's ever been. And to play Tywin the way she did -- to tell the truth -- cut him to the core, which is really the only way to beat him.
